We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Sylvera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasha, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career to further develop my passion for editing and storytelling, while also chronicling my life through a digital album I could look back on and eventually share with my kids. In a world where we’re often pressured to monetize our passions, creating content has been a way for me to enjoy the process without the weight of deadlines or outside opinions. That said, I now feel ready to explore opportunities for monetizing my platform while maintaining that creative freedom.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been a creative at heart, even before I realized it. From writing poems and spoken word as a child, to creating event recaps, and editing videos for my YouTube channel, I’ve consistently found ways to express my creativity in a way that feels authentic to who I am. What excites me most is seeing where my creativity will lead me in terms of partnerships and collaborations, as well as how I’ll continue to grow on this journey. When I look back at my very first YouTube video, I can clearly see how far I’ve come—not just in terms of the equipment (I started out filming on my iPhone 10), but also in the evolution of my editing style. Along the way, I’ve learned not to compare my journey to others. The right audience will always find you, so it’s important to stay true to your own path and not force it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since I’m still fairly new to LA (having recently moved here from ATL), I might not have a lot of hidden gems to share yet, but for a first-time visitor, I’d definitely recommend some classic spots like the Santa Monica Pier and a Hollywood Bus Tour to soak in the city’s iconic sights. When it comes to food, I’d take them to some of the amazing mom-and-pop spots I’ve discovered, like Blessed Tropical Jamaican Cuisine and Dulan’s Soul Food Kitchen. Some of the best experiences I’ve had here have been at local fairs, festivals, and block parties. One highlight was attending the Hotwater Cornbread Festival, which brings a taste of Southern culture right to LA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a special shoutout to my parents and my husband for their unwavering support in all of my professional and creative pursuits. They’ve been my biggest champions, always encouraging me to keep following my passions, even when they may not fully understand them. Their belief in me has been a constant source of motivation, and I’m deeply grateful for their love and encouragement.
