We had the good fortune of connecting with Taunya Tutt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taunya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The pandemic hit in 2020 and all my plans for promoting and getting appointments for makeup clients were stopped before they could be put in motion. I have always wanted to create an all-natural makeup line but I didn’t have access to or even know a chemist so I started where I knew I could which is with an all-natural skincare line. I did some research, created a few products, using items right out of my kitchen cabinet. All ingredients have healing benefits for the skin. I tested them out with friends and family that I knew would be honest and tell me the truth. Once the reviews came back I did what I needed to do and launched Queen Tutt Cosmetics.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other skincare lines is that my products are really NATURAL. I don’t add any chemicals or ingredients I cannot pronounce. I specialize in customizing skin care products for those who have problem skin. This business is by no means where I want it to be but the challenge I faced in starting this business is handling the business end of it. Cost points and permits, and, etc. Then I got help from my girl Brittni Fontleroy owner and operator of “Oh Glow She didn’t” and creator and owner of B. Rich Collection. She helped me revamp my business and got the business end in line, got me licensed and permitted, new packaging, labeling, and a new logo! Business is not for the faint of heart and you need to have thick skin, but if you believe what you create, stand by it, maintain your integrity, and always create from a place of love, you will succeed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, my younger sister is a chef so I like to go to different restaurants or bars and grills. I love good food and drink. I love Paul Martins in El Segundo, Tony P’s in the Marina, my favorite is Javier’s in Century City. I love to go to or host paint and sips and or wine tasting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I have to give all praises to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He gave me this idea and the means to bring it to fruition. I also must thank my supportive and patient husband, Curtis Tutt. Thank you for allowing me to fulfill my dream. I thank my parents, Carole and Hubbard Allen, and my siblings Kiaro, Teresa, and Mary. Your love and support can never be matched.
