We had the good fortune of connecting with Tay Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tay, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk-taking is tricky. It’s gambling in a sense, but no risk, no reward is a very true statement. I think the most significant risk people overlook is time. Most people think monetary when they think of risk, but time is more of a commodity than money because we can never get that back. So any time we invest our time into anything, that becomes high risk. I’ve devoted a lot of time to building my business to where it is now. It has always been a high-risk journey because you don’t have an absolute guarantee that if you put in the work the results will follow.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always had a creative streak, but as far as photography, that was an acquired skill. I accidentally fell into the career. Initially, I was shooting videos on my MacBook camera and uploading those on YouTube in 2009. I went from that to a friend’s dad loaning me his Canon GL2. It was literally up from there. I ended up aligning with local artists in the Las Vegas area that were big in the battle rap scene, which pulled me to the front row automatically because there weren’t many videographers on the scene. In 2010 we filmed a music video that made its way to world star and did 250k views overnight, and we’re talking Worldstar in 2010, so it was a relatively new platform. In about seven months, I went from nobody to the go-to guy for music videos in Las Vegas. I think recognizing my opportunities and being aware of momentum was vital in my early days. I utilized the resources available at the time, and I think the timing was perfect; the stars just aligned. I got into video with youtube wave. Twitter was still new; it became my primary platform for marketing my work. I pushed into photography in 2012/2013, which was in line with Instagram, and now here we are ten years later with a 6 figure media company. I wouldn’t say it was hard, though. Did it take time? Absolutely! But as I said, it’s about realizing your opportunities and maneuvering with your momentum. Being consistent and believing in yourself can bring you a long way!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a big fan of nature. I would probably make a day trip up to Mt. Charleston or Zion for a hike and escape the city. I’m a BBQ connoisseur, so we would have to pull up to Rolling Smoke BBQ; that’s been a go-to spot for a few years.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are honestly too many to name. Shoutout to everybody that has poured into me or invested in me in one way or another. Without the people who believed in me and trusted in me to bring their projects to life, I definitely wouldn’t be where I’m now.
