We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Hudson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what do you attribute your success to?
Intention. I’m a firm believer in being intentional with everything that I do or set my mind to. With music, it was something I never thought I would pursue. I was a Fashion Design major and music for me was a therapy outlet when. needed to de-stress. That all changed for me in 2019. The best part about it is that I got to meet like minded individuals who enjoy the same genres of music as I did and continue to play music for those who feel the same way as I do about music.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started to dabble in mixing back in 2009 when future beats started to make a way in the music community. I was always around fellow Dj friends, sitting behind the booths, just observing the magic that they could bring to a crowd. It was more than providing entertainment for me but really a feeling, an unexplainable emotion that felt real and authentic. I decided one day to just pick up a computer and teach myself how to mix from scratch. After that I couldn’t stop. It became and addiction that overtook me that I loved and felt the same in return. It wasn’t an easy transition though, being a woman I felt that If I ever asked for help from others I would be dismissed or peers were too busy to take me seriously. Though it was hard, That fueled me even more to go harder than ever. I just continued to stay consistent in practicing in my craft everyday wether it be for 10 mins out of my day or even a full day. With that, years later I never thought I would be where I am today and I got to meet like minded people who felt the same as I. It even prompted me to start my own online radio show “Influential Vibes” where I provide sound with local/domestic & international Djs to influence the ear to different beats/edits. If I had to let anyone know who is thinking about going in this field is to never give up and patience is key.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m in the vicinity of LA, My idea of a great time with friends is going out exploring all of LA! I love food lol, So I’m always showing friends the best food spots. Also being a creative going to places like museums, Record shops and lounges with good music is always a vibe.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to all the people in the music/sound cloud community for believing in me and what I do. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be here. These group of creatives are the cornerstone of the future beats community and the heartbeat to those who are influenced by sound.
