Meet Taylor Joseph Booth

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Joseph Booth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor Joseph, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me, I am a man of faith. So, taking leaps into unknown, betting on myself, and trusting God is essentially all risk taking! I believe that I have been blessed with a variety of creative gifts that have made way for me and will continue doing so. However, in order to access that it required a certain level of bravery, boldness, authenticity. I’m from a small college town in Mississippi, Hattiesburg to be exact, and I recently celebrated my tenth year of living here in Los Angeles. Leaving the south to pursue my dreams in arts and entertainment was probably one of my biggest risk taken to date, but I believe doing so was necessary for my journey and it’s been pivotal to my growth and success. Of course I’ve had my share of ups and downs along the way, making me question at times if it were all worth it, but ultimately it’s made me resilient in my pursuits and steadfast in my spiritual walk. I’ve learned to trust God and his plans to prosper me, which continues to give me hope in my future, ground me in the present, and overcome any obstacles of my past. So with that being said, I won’t stop taking risks any time soon!….

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a multi hyphenated creative, meaning I am gifted at many different things artistically! I feel that alone sets me apart, but also no one is quite like me, and I’ve realized that is my power. My first love was and always has been music. I grew up singing in the church, local talent shows, and showchoir competitions, which all later led me to diving into musical theater. This is where I discovered my love for acting and began centering my focus, performing in plays throughout high school, and later studying theater at The University of Southern Mississippi. Simultaneously, I was majoring in fashion, which piqued my interest in modeling, styling, and designing. Those three things expanded my path, carrying me all the way to Texas upon graduation, where I began doing commercial print work and also gained my footing on the runway, walking various fashion shows locally and nationally. Two of things I’m most proud of during that part of my journey, are being selected as one of the thirteen most stylish individuals by DFW Style Daily and receiving my first magazine publication in Krave Magazine. After making my presence known in the Lone Star State, I felt it was time to reach for higher heights and achieve my goal of moving to Los Angeles. As soon as I touched down in the City of Angels, I hit the ground running, making waves an actor/model in tv and film, obtaining a variety of personal stylist clients, and becoming an ambassador for some of the top brands in the country. Since then, I’ve continued to make strides to stick and stay, but it has not always been easy. Like most artists, I too have battled with imposter syndrome, financial stability, and numerous accounts of rejection. I had to learn that I may not always be “picked” by man, that I have to continuously bet on myself, and be reminded that I’m “chosen” by God to carry out specific plans on this earth and within my industry/community as a whole. I think what’s helped me to overcome most of my challenges is having a supportive family as well as tribe of good friends, which isn’t always easy to come by living in this city. Nevertheless, I’m still here and still standing, looking forward to where I’m headed next and what/who I will encounter along the way. I’ve recently pivoted to screenwriting, and now working on a pilot that I’m excited to share with the world, trusting that it will reach a wide audience and elevate me beyond what my eyes can see presently. What I want the world to know about me is, storytelling is not just what I do for a living, it’s how I do all that I do while I’m living. I’m just here as a vessel trying to express myself as best as I can, hoping to connect with others through my artistry and humanity, and fulfill the purpose God has given me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a best friend to visit, we’d have a full itinerary lol! Hitting the beach would definitely be at the top of the list. We’d grab brunch at Bru’s Wiffle in Santa Monica before, ride bikes along PCH to burn all that food off after, then relax on the sand and have a mini photoshoot! I’d also add a play and/or live concert to the itinerary, because more than likely they’ll be someone who’s in town that we both enjoy listening to or a production at the Pantages that peeks our interest. Another fun thing I’d like to include is hitting up a museum or art exhibit pop up, you know something cultured and sophisticated. Of course we’d turn up too though, hitting up spots like The Queensberry DTLA or The Chapel in Weho, unless it’s the weekend then we’re hitting Black on the Block or Everyday People. Lastly I’d incorporate something active, like hiking Runyon Canyon or a hiit class at Sanctuary Fitness, then later on dive into more chill like dinner at Tu Madre or The Belmont and a movie at The Grove!…

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d first like to give honor to God, who gives meaning and direction to my life. He deserves all the glory and praise for who I am and who I’m becoming! Secondly I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother Charlotte Elaine Taylor! It is because of her and my “Taylor Strong” family clan, that I possess the faith and resilience that I do! She’s been the ultimate role model and has always believed in my dreams, encouraging me to follow my heart and seek ye first the kingdom of God in all that I pursue. I’d also like to shoutout my father, Joseph Rodney Booth, who instilled in me a hustler mentality and an adaptive spirit, which has most certainly aided me in during my time here in LA. I also want to thank my amazing friends, old, constant, and new! I appreciate you all for your presence and support through the different ebbs and flows of my life. You’ve made me better human, accepting me at different versions, and sharpening me in ways that I am forever grateful for. To the men Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., thank you for the mentorship and brotherhood, in my youth, during collegiate years, and thereafter. You’ve helped me prioritize being of service to the community, taught me ways to conduct business, and showed me how to work well and unite with others who may look/think differently than I do. Lastly, I’d like to give a shoutout to me, yuuup me lol! In all seriousness, I have to give credit to myself too. It takes a lot courage to believe in oneself, and be willing to grow and accept challenges, while exemplifying grace and humility every step of the way. I couldn’t be more proud and grateful for all the work I’ve done inward and outwardly, that has helped shape and molded me for the path I am on!..
