We had the good fortune of connecting with TeAndre’ Miles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi TeAndre’, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My journey into entrepreneurship was a gradual evolution, beginning with casually photographing friends for enjoyment. Over time, individuals started approaching me to pay for my services sporadically. It wasn’t until over five years later that I recognized the necessity of formal education to enhance my skills and confidence in my craft. Subsequently, I transitioned from working part-time to dedicating myself full-time to my business. It wasn’t a sudden decision to start my own venture; rather, it naturally evolved from my passion for photography/videography.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a visual storyteller, and unlike many filmmakers, my love for film and photography originates from my passion for music. Music is my driving force, guiding me to create and share stories about myself and the people around me. While it’s now my job to bring others’ visions to life, I initially started my brand to use music and visuals as a means of uplifting people. I aim to shed light on the experiences and struggles of individuals, offering solace to those going through similar situations. My brand, Xi Company, is rooted in spirituality, and I subtly weave my knowledge into my art to impart wisdom through my creations.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d love to take them to all the beautiful nature spots I know, maybe even discover some new ones together. We’d spend a whole day at the beach, skating under the sun, and if the weather’s right, take a dip in the water. Afterwards, we could hit up some local bars, mingling with strangers and soaking in the atmosphere. Another day, we’d catch shows featuring local musicians, maybe checking out some pop ups on Melrose. Since I’m vegan, we’d definitely explore some of the vibrant vegan restaurants like Pura Vita, Crossroads Kitchen, The Moody Vegan, and finish off with some sweet treats at Cinnaholic
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The source of my success stems from life experiences and the support of friends and family who have always encouraged me to pursue my passions. Starting back in high school, where I was trusted to capture and document special moments, and continuing through the people I’ve met along the way who inspired and motivated me to do the same. It’s the combined impact of these encounters that keeps me driven to follow my dreams.
