Meet Teily Fabio Silva Dos Santos | Content Creator/Actor/Writer and Police Officer

Hi Teily Fabio, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I began the process of creating the brand ‘Coleção em Ação Show’ in 2011, initially as a blog, creating articles that rescued stories involving the nostalgia of Brazil’s past, which, not by chance, has a lot to do with the history of the United States, especially in the period between the 80s and 90s. After that, the blog evolved along with the history of the internet and social networks, migrating to a Facebook page and, as of 2018, to Instagram and, as its main communication vehicle, the YouTube channel, which today has more than 200 thousand subscribers and has more than 24 million views and more than 3.5 million hours watched. Today, the channel has a team responsible for editing the videos and taking care of social networks, while I, in addition to the presentations, continue to produce 100% of the scripts, because the research part attracts and inspires me. In parallel to this, I continue with my career as a police officer, with almost 20 years of experience in the state of Santa Catarina, in the southern region of Brazil, including teaching at our police academy for over 15 years. In fact, in 2023, I was invited to participate in the SWAT operator training course in West Jordan, in the state of Utah, successfully completing the course.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since my childhood in the 1980s, I have always been curious to learn more about the history of TV series, films and cartoons. With the ease of the internet and also of publications that have emerged over the years, starting in 2011, I was able to create the blog “Coleção em Ação Show”, exploring and creating information precisely about this period of time, between the 1980s and 1990s. In 2018, taking advantage of the evolution of social networks, I created the YouTube channel, which today has more than 600 videos produced, including documentaries, where I talked about the emergence of He-man and the Masters of the Universe in Brazil in the 1980s, about the Spaghetti Western period, among others. In this 7-year period of the channel’s existence, I have had the privilege of gaining a loyal audience, precisely because people like to remember important facts and moments from their past, especially their childhood. I am also proud of being able to maintain credibility with my research, rediscovering dates and facts that are often lost in time. As is often the case in our lives, this trust gained with the public came through hard work and perseverance, because standing out in this field is very difficult. So the lessons learned came precisely from the consistency and insistence so that little by little more and more people would get to know the work of Coleção em Ação Show, mainly because I was not content with the first source of information available on the internet, but also explored magazines, newspapers and books that deal with the 70s, 80s and 90s. With this, I want that through Coleção em Ação Show, in addition to fun and nostalgia, people will remember films, series, cartoons, toys and especially moments from their past. I believe I am on the right track, because in these years of Coleção em Ação Show, in addition to social media, the brand has already been present in an interview with one of the biggest talk shows in the world in terms of audience numbers, The Noite, hosted by Danilo Gentili on SBT, one of the oldest and most watched channels in Brazil. I was also able to launch two books, which, through their chapters, were able to further explore the past of entertainment and, why not, the people themselves who lived through the 80s. I was also able to create a good partnership with Mattel, creator of the He-man and the Masters of the Universe brand, and also participate as an actor in a Brazilian film called “Matadores de Aliens do Espaço Sideral” (Alien Killers from Outer Space).

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Speaking a little about my city, it’s called Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. It’s a small island connected to the mainland by three bridges. In addition to the 42 paradisiacal beaches, I would definitely take him to try the local seafood-based food, the stand-up shows and, of course, see my collections of comics and toys from the 70s, 80s and 90s, which in themselves are a little trip to the past.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, including my daughters, my brother and wife Poliana, who have always been a pillar of support for the Coleção em Ação Show (Collection in Action Show). To my friends who are collectors of nostalgia! I would like to thank the duo Renato Wamberto and Danilo Modolo, content creators who have inspired and continue to inspire me.
