We had the good fortune of connecting with Teresa Ann Photo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teresa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Photography was just a hobby when I first started my senior year of high school. I spent hours practicing with any friends and family that would let me capture them! With that being said, I am self taught with the help of a few friends along the way! Fast forward to college, I shot my first wedding and the inquiries continued from there. I decided to then turn this hobby into an actual business, because why not do something I love. I’ve bounced back and forth from portrait sessions to weddings, from families to newborns, to most recently shooting small intimate events. I love the flexibility having my own business brings and I love being able to capture the raw joy and in between moments during all of my sessions.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a photographer for about ten years now, so the journey has definitely been a rollercoaster in the best way possible! I have grown tremendously in both the way I capture people/details and in my editing skills. I think the most challenging part along the way and still is, believing in myself to do great work. There are so many incredible photographers out there that sometimes it can feel intimidating, however I have come to believe in myself more and more. My editing style has changed along the years and while I have continued to love a light and airy look, I also appreciate a true to color look as well. I have learned tons over the years, but what I think is most important is that a photo captured is timeless and priceless. For a loved one it may be the last photo they have of someone, or a year that meant the world to them, or a first. Being able to provide such special memories for people is what makes me love photography SO much. I want the world to know that my brand is authentic. I will always go the extra step to make sure my clients are happy no matter the situation!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting I would of course take her to the beach! We would stop at all of the coffee shops, go shopping, and I would love to take her to Great White for a delicious lunch or dinner!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for my amazing clients, both new and returning!! I can’t thank them enough for all of the business they have provided for me, especially the referrals. It is truly the biggest compliment to have a returning client! I also would love to give a shout out to Beijos Events and Michelle Rogers Styling for trusting in me to capture such incredible events! Last but not least, my family has supported me since the very beginning and their encouragement has kept me going!
