We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrell Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terrell, what do you attribute your success to?
My faith in God. If it wasn’t for his grace that blessed me with this amazing talent/ gifts I would probably still be bouncing around from job to job trying to find my way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is my personality in my craft. Its not every when you can find a stylist that really listens to what a client wants and be able to break it down and achieve their goals/ hair dreams. I am proudly that stylist. In my eleven years in the industry I have mastered being able to read in between the lines of what my clients or artists are explaining to me.

I’m always excited about the future and whats next to come because if (I feel) you don’t have anything to be excited for or looking forward to something you’re not living up to your full potential. My future is bright and I’m excited for the journey of working my way there as well as the connections I’ll make along the way.

Hard work and dedication is how I got to this level of success. Being able and willing to work long hours countless events for free/print trade as well as having the kind of personality that people enjoy being around, in this industry personality goes a long way. It wasn’t always easy moving from San Diego with only a rental car full of clothes with no money to Los Angeles to follow my dreams of being a celebrity hairstylist eight years ago. I never gave up no matter the obstacle and here I am the Master of hair achieving my dreams.

The lesson I learned along the way and what I want the world to know about my story and brand is that never gave up, when i had no car and had to ride the bus, when my leg was in a cast for eight months I still got up and went to the salon as well as competed in hair shows while hopping around on one leg I never stopped. Keep God first, wake up everyday and say today is going to be an amazing day, always look for the good in the bad, and most importantly stay HUMBLE. This is the key to my success the method I have taught myself and followed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ooh man this is a hard one, ok so first we would havr to hit up Crossroads Kitchen for lunch accompanied with a crossroads margarita as well as coming on the weekend for their brunch! It is a vegan must I am a faithful regular lol.

For dinner with drinks and a dope vibe/ambience Ubuntu on Melrose Vegan South African food, also check out Pnk taco( Taco Tuesday) and Mr Charles( vegan McDonald’s). For night life and strong drinks weho( West Hollywood) is where the LA crowds flocks to.

For advertisers it’s LA there is endless things you can get into from beautiful beachs, to museums, to hiking trails down to family fun ceneters like X Lanes downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God of course first and foremost. Second Bellus Academy and to all my amazing educators ( Jamie N, Diego R, and Leilani A)for seeing the talent within me and push me to be the best of my abilities to succeed in the beauty industry. Lastly but never forgotten my family and friends for being my number one supporters , cheering me on in all my successes. I love you all dearly
