We had the good fortune of connecting with Theresa Gillibrand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Theresa, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work-life balance has changed significantly after changing career paths. Originally, I worked for the Federal and State Government in Communications. It was rewarding to have the opportunity to work in these capacities. However, the deadlines were challenging along with finding “your zone” to create a quality product. I found myself working a lot of hours and not giving myself enough. I found my stress levels were affecting my health and I knew I had to make a change in my life. Before making this change, I tried Hypnotherapy to reduce my anxiety and stress. It was a game-changer for me in my life. I found my anxiety levels diminished greatly. I decided to obtain a certification in Hypnotherapy to assist friends and family. I asked Hypnotherapy colleagues if we could do a trade by working on one another from time to time.
It was wonderful. As marriage and motherhood came into my life. I found myself so busy, I was not giving enough to my self-care. I found myself in pain from old sports injuries which required two spine surgeries that would no longer allow me to work in a traditional office setting behind a computer for hours and hours. As my youngest child was approaching high school, I decided it was time to take Hypnotherapy and Life Coaching seriously as a career path. I went back and obtained a certification in Coaching (CLC) in 2018; and an additional certification in Rapid Transformational Therapy in 2020, (created by best-selling Author and world-renowned Therapist, Marissa Peer). Both of these tools offer transformative results. I have discovered through experience, that customizing and using both tools for my clients has been beneficial for those who are skeptical of Hypnotherapy based on false narratives. Hypnotherapy is quite similar to guided meditation. What makes Hypnotherapy powerful is your willingness to relax the body and your mind into a theta brain wave state. This allows the facilitator to dialogue with the client and release their blocks and obstacles in a profound way to purge the dysfunctional dialogue to become confident, with clarity and balance. I have found my work as a Hypnotherapist and Life Coach has created a “win win” dynamic for myself and the client. I’m in the process of creating the podcast series, Pathway to Peace, Gaining Wisdom through Storytelling, with my friend. I am living a lifestyle that creates a balance with self-care and values my mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual path. I look at balance as a crucial component in life. My body is my temple here on this earth. I have simplified many aspects of my life to be at my best for myself and my clients. I have assisted and facilitated many clients’ lives by releasing old-held beliefs that no longer serve their lives. I have found if I am not an example to others, I am not giving my clients the value they deserve. I have transformed my own life of stress, poor health, and anxiety to better health, vitality, and confidence through my practice and lifestyle, which I truly believe I would not have found without these amazing tools! This was my main reason for naming my company Clarity. Balance. Purpose. My motto is to gain clarity to obtain your balance to live your purpose.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a Certified Rapid Transformational Hypnotherapist and Life Coach, I specialize in facilitating clients in managing and reducing their stress and anxiety. As a person that suffered from both, I feel my own experience with overcoming these mental obstacles is the perfect match to be able to understand the feelings the client experiences. I offer my clients multiple tools such as journaling, walking, hiking, meditation, among others. If the client implements the new tools which becomes their new lifestyle, that is the key to the success in what I do. My proudest moments is seeing my clients making progress and report their confidence and feel being in charge of their lives again. This is the “win win” for me. I have learned so much from each of my clients. They make being human real! We are not superman. We are human beings, with strengths and challenges. We all could work on our challenges to become our best selves.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to recognize and give my thanks to my family and friends for their continued support through this personal development journey.
I am grateful to Marissa Peer for her thorough Rapid Transformational Therapy training program. Also, the wisdom gained through her two books; “Tell Yourself a Better Lie” and “I am Enough: Mark Your Mirror and Change Your Life.”
