Meet Thomas Basaluos | CEO and Founder of Thomas Basaluos Studios

We had the good fortune of connecting with Thomas Basaluos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Thomas, what do you attribute your success to?
The success of my brand is deeply rooted in the connections I have made with my clients. From the very beginning of each project, I prioritize building trust, understanding, and rapport with every person I work with. This philosophy has been the foundation of my success, and I am passionate about creating meaningful and authentic experiences for each of my clients as a photographer.
Every client I work with has a unique story, and I approach each project with curiosity, empathy, and a desire to understand and honor their vision. I am not just capturing images; I am capturing their memories, their emotions, and their legacy. This is a deeply personal and meaningful process, and I feel privileged to be a part of it.
I take great pride in creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience for my clients. I understand that being in front of a camera can be intimidating, and I do everything in my power to create a relaxed and fun environment. By establishing a relationship of trust and respect, my clients are able to let their guard down and truly be themselves in front of my lens. The result is beautiful, authentic images that truly capture their essence.
To me, success is not just about the number of clients I have or the size of my portfolio. It is about the impact I make on people’s lives. I am honored to have had the opportunity to capture some of the most important moments in my clients’ lives, from weddings and graduations to family reunions and personal branding sessions. Knowing that my work has brought joy, comfort, and lasting memories to my clients is what keeps me motivated and inspired.
In short, the most important factor behind my success has been my clients. It is their trust, support, and willingness to let me into their lives that has allowed me to build a successful brand. I am deeply grateful for their trust and loyalty, and I will continue to prioritize their needs and visions as me and my business grow!

What should our readers know about your business?
My brand and business are a true labor of love, born from my deep passion for creating authentic and meaningful images that tell the stories of my clients. What sets me apart from others in the industry is my unwavering dedication to building strong relationships with each of my clients, my acute attention to detail, and my ability to create a relaxed and enjoyable experience during every photoshoot.
As a photographer, there is nothing more fulfilling than hearing the glowing feedback of my clients, who describe my work as “breathtaking,” “emotive,” and “timeless.” These words of appreciation are a true testament to the hard work and dedication that I have put into growing my business.
But let’s be real – getting to where I am today has not been easy. Starting a business from scratch requires a great deal of effort, patience, and resilience. I have faced countless obstacles along the way, from mastering the business and financial aspects of running a successful photography business to honing my artistic vision and technique.
Despite these challenges, I have persevered with the unwavering support of my loved ones, and the lessons I have learned have been invaluable. I have learned the importance of being adaptable, flexible, and open-minded, as well as the power of building genuine and meaningful connections with my clients.
Ultimately, what I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that I am more than just a photographer. I am a storyteller, a listener, and a partner in capturing the beauty and complexity of the human experience. My goal is to create a safe and inclusive space for all of my clients, and to help them tell their unique story in a way that feels honest, heartfelt, and true to who they are.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Laguna Beach with no doubt! This picturesque coastal town is truly a hidden gem, filled with stunning beaches, charming boutiques, and delicious restaurants.
First on the itinerary would be a visit to the stunning Crystal Cove State Park, a sprawling nature preserve that offers miles of hiking trails, tide pools, and scenic overlooks. We would then head down to the beach to soak up the sun and surf at one of the many gorgeous beaches, such as Main Beach or Victoria Beach.
For lunch, we would head to the Lumberyard Restaurant, a beloved local spot known for its farm-to-table cuisine and cozy atmosphere. After that, we would stroll through the many art galleries and boutique shops along Forest Avenue, stopping at the Laguna Art Museum to check out the latest exhibits.
No trip to Laguna Beach would be complete without a visit to the iconic Pageant of the Masters, a unique theatrical experience that brings famous works of art to life through live actors and intricate sets. We would also make sure to catch the sunset at one of the many scenic overlooks along the coast, such as Heisler Park or the Top of the World.
To cap off the evening, we would head to The Deck, a chic and trendy restaurant overlooking the ocean that serves up creative cocktails and fresh seafood. Whether you’re looking for a day of adventure or a relaxing night out, Laguna Beach truly has something for everyone.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I think about the people who have had the greatest impact on my life and my career as a photographer, it’s impossible not to think of the person who has been with me every step of the way: my dad. He has always been my biggest supporter and my loudest cheerleader, encouraging me to pursue my passions and never give up on my dreams. From the time I was a young child, my dad was the one who put a camera in my hands and taught me how to see the world in a different way through the lens.
As I grew older and started to take my business more seriously, my dad was always there to provide guidance, encouragement, and honest feedback. He never let me settle for mediocrity and always pushed me to be the best version of myself as a photographer, throughout college and as a person. Without his unwavering support, I’m not sure I would be where I am today.
So I want to dedicate this shoutout to my dad, for being the driving force behind my passion for photography, and for always believing in me, even when I doubted myself. Thank you, Dad, for everything you’ve done for me, and for being the best dad and mentor a son could ask for.
