Meet Tia Brisco | Organizational Mental Health Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tia Brisco and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tia, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in the Antelope Valley, specifically in Palmdale and Lancaster. My family is quite well-known in the area for our involvement in business, music, and sports. I come from a strong, supportive background. My grandparents, especially my grandmother (we call her Momo), were the heart of our family. Momo taught me the value of hard work while also showing me how to be kind and generous. Every day, I strive to make her proud. She was the best role model I could have asked for.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my therapy practice in 2018, encouraged by one of my former supervisors. At first, it was just a small practice, mostly working with kids. Around that time, I went through some tough personal losses, including my grandmother’s passing and a separation from my partner. I almost gave up, but I knew my grandparents wouldn’t have wanted that, so I pushed forward.
Today, I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist in eight states and run an organizational mental health practice. We support employees and leadership through training, crisis response, and consultation. I’ve had the honor of working with major organizations, including sports teams, airlines, Fortune 500 companies, and my personal favorites: small businesses.
My passion for this field is so strong that I’m about to complete a doctorate in clinical psychology, specializing in organizational psychology.
I am also a true crime blogger in my spare time!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d start the day with breakfast at More than Waffles in Encino, my favorite breakfast spot. Then, I’d take them to one of my favorite activities: axe throwing at Golden Axe in Tarzana.
After that, we’d head back home to the Antelope Valley for a meal at either El Toreo West Mexican Restaurant or Modern Tea Room—both are staples for me!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve had so many people support me along my journey. My family, best friends, and numerous mentors have taken a chance on me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. I’ve been fortunate to have a village that uplifts me, especially during moments of self-doubt (hello, imposter syndrome). Every single one of them knows who they are and how much I appreciate them. The list is long, and I’m sure our readers don’t want to stick around until 2025!
