We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiana Dahan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My passion for capturing moments and creating lasting memories was the driving force behind starting my own photography business. I’ve always loved capturing the authentic smiles of children, making babies laugh, and pausing fleeting memories through images, and I wanted to share that passion with others. I wanted parents to have those precious portraits of their brand new newborns, images that they will look back at and melt all over again over the fragility and cuteness of their brand new baby. The flexibility of entrepreneurship, having my own studio, and setting my own schedule were additional factors that appealed to me. I saw this as a chance to build a business that aligned with my values, allowing me to pursue my creative vision and share my love of photography with my clients. My top priority was ensuring my clients had an exceptional experience, knowing their babies were in safe and caring hands.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My passion for newborn photography stems from my love of capturing the beauty of new life. There is nothing more precious in my eyes than a newborn baby, and I wanted to be a part of that miracle and capture every little detail for brand new parents. I specialize in studio photography, creating timeless images that reflect the unique personalities of each newborn and family. My work is vibrant, full of life and color, and timeless. I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built with my clients, who often return to me for cake smashes, family portraits and more milestones. I love watching the babies that I had the privilege and pleasure to work with grow into beautiful beings full of personality, watching families grow over the years and capturing their important milestones. Starting my business wasn’t always easy, but I overcame challenges by investing in continuous education in newborn safety, posing, and everything else I could learn about photography. Through my journey I’ve learned the importance of patience, flexibility, and grew a genuine passion for my art and my business. I want the world to know that my brand is synonymous with quality, care, and creating lasting memories for my clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend visited not that long ago actually, we hung out most of the time at Universal Studios and visited beautiful places, like the Santa Monica Pier and Redondo Beach, which are some of our favorite places. We loved to dine at Miho Sushi, Mun Sushi, and Sol and Luna restaurants located in the Tarzana area. But there are so many places to visit and things to do in the Los Angeles area; the Getty Museum and Getty Villa are amazing; the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach is incredible; Malibu Creek State Park is amazing for hikes; this area really has something for everyone.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My inspiration for newborn photography came from many wonderful photographers I was following online, like Caralee Case photography: her work is absolutely amazing. My biggest inspiration and what made me want to start learning all about newborn photography was Anne Geddes, her work with babies and newborns is beautiful. But I have to say that photography itself its just half the magic, editing is where the rest of the magic comes from and I couldn’t have done it without the amazing training from Damien Symonds: I will be forever grateful to him for his teaching in how to correctly see and edit images.
