We had the good fortune of connecting with Tierra Amira Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tierra Amira, what is the most important factor behind your success?
It’s hard to think of myself or my brand in terms of success, because there is so much I want to accomplish. With that being said, the biggest factor of my success this far, has been my ambition to want to learn, my motivation to want to inspire, and my work ethic that got me through the hard times. My journey has not been easy, there have been many down points. However, the good always outweighs the bad for me because each failure and every mistake shaped me into the person I am today. I appreciate my journey because I am leaning so much along the way. I think that is part of being successful. I believe that our abilities to pursue an interest and enjoy the journey along the way while learning and evolving, is my idea of success. My brand is my simply doing what I love which is Acting, Music, Dance, and Modeling, and giving others the chance to do the same. That is why I started my YouTube Series, Industry Xposed! When I was first coming up in the industry, I always wish I had some sort of mentor to ask for guidance and advice but found few to none that were willing to simply answer questions and give me good advice. So I wanted to create a series where aspiring industry creatives could use as a resource to learn how to get started in fields such as Acting, Modeling, DJing, Producing, and give them tips and tricks to help them along their journeys. I want to inspire but most importantly, I want to give back in ways that were easily available and accessible to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a mutli-disciplinary creative in the Entertainment Industry. I started acting in commercials when I was young. Due to lack of good public education, I left DC at the age of 11 to attend a junior boarding school in New York. There, I really flourished my love and skills in dance , music and acting. I then graduated to attend an all-girls boarding school where I continued to further my progression while acting, dancing, and singing in HS productions such as West Side Story, Chicago, and Guy and Dolls. Since I attended an all-girls school, I often played male as well as female roles in the production. Which I was fine with because I knew it would deepen my range as an actor. Immediately after college graduation i travelled, for the 2nd time, to the Cannes Film Festival where I had the opportunity to work with several Entertainment companies. During my time in Los Angeles, I have worked on the set of two major television shows which were Shameless on Showtime and Westworld on HBO! I was a guest on the show “Out Loud With Claudia Jordan” on FoxSoul twice. As a model, I have been featured in Sky Magazine and West Hollywood Magazine, while managing several social media campaigns for companies such as Reebok, TomboyX, and Hum Nutrition. Doing is also one of my greatest joys, with getting the opportunity to be a resident DJ for two shows that air on Dash Radio. Recently, I hosted my own morning radio show called “Music Xposed” on a digital platform known as Ethel’s Club. This year, I am having my radio show on two new radio stations, so stay tuned. Lastly, I wanted to start a series called, Industry Xposed, to help and provide first hand knowledge and behind the scenes experiences of how to navigate the entertainment industry for their benefit in order to get ahead and come out on top! Stay tune for more videos pertaining to your specific career! whether your a Actor, Model, or music producer, I will provide information from ” How to Get Started” to ” Knowing How to Read Your Contracts. You can find this series on my Youtube Channel: Tierra Amira Jones.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of the most fascinating places in Los Angeles are the most obvious. Furthermore, Some of the obvious thing my best friend and I would have to do is go to the beach. My favorite beaches are Venice, Newport, Laguna, Will Roger, and El Matador in Malibu. Additionally, I believe it is still important to see all the touristy stuff as well, so we would also check out Santa Monica Pier, The Hollywood sign, and Griffith Observatory. As far as eating there as amazing spots in Little Tokyo and Koreatown, additionally, there is a great Jamaican Restaurant called Ackee Bamboo in Leimert Park. Since Los Angeles is still on shutdown, a lot of social scene is shutdown too but there is still plenty to see and discover in Los Angeles aside from the social aspect!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this Shoutout series to all the people who took my under their wings and showed me the ropes. I would not be the DJ am today without DJ’s Raecola and DJ Annalyze. When I had questions or wanted to learn something new, they took me in with open arms. I truly appreciate these D’s with all my heart. Lastly, I would love to dedicate this to my mom that has sacrificed so much in life to get me where I am today as well. She is a real life superwoman! I love you Mom!
