We had the good fortune of connecting with Tspokes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tspokes, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks has played a major role in my career as an artist. Whether it was reaching out to an artist I wanted to work with, or networking and exchanging information with other creatives alike at social settings. Taking risks is mandatory if you plan to succeed as an artist. It takes those connections and opportunities that force you to step outside of your comfort zone to achieve the next step on the journey.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What’s sets Tspokes apart from other artist is my resilience and my ability to illustrate my words into imagery. My goal is to be one of the best rappers of my generation. I’ve been a student of hip hop since an early age. I got to where I am today by being authentic and consistent. Even on my worst days I didn’t quit. I learned from every mistake and applied the lesson to my next move. Being an artist is not easy especially being that hip hop is already a male dominated sport. As a female artist I have to go 10 times as hard to prove that I deserve to be here and that I’m willing to go toe to toe with the best. I want the world to see my drive and determination and hopefully use my story as motivation within their own.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Personally I’m a foodie so I would take my friend to Fixins in down town LA or if I was in the IE I would take them to I love chicken and waffles. Then I would hit the beach, ride scooters around the area, and end the day somewhere fun where there’s drinks, music and a nice vibe. I love art and museums as well so I would most likely go to the Grammy museum or the museum of illusions.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my manager DavDBeats. He’s sacrificed time, money, and resources to help me reach my dreams. From taking my press photos, to the production and mixing and mastering of the records I release to the public. DavD does it all and he’s a force to be reckoned with. One thing he’s always instilled in me is time, consistency, and decisions. DavD is a man of his word and he goes hard for what he believes in.
