We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany O and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I’ve come to see risk as a bridge between who you are and who you want to become. Some people wait until everything is perfect before they make a move, but I’ve learned that perfection is often the enemy of momentum.

Starting and growing a business without consistent funding, in a highly competitive city, while juggling personal challenges that was all risk. But for me, not pursuing my dream felt even riskier. I was more afraid of staying stuck than I was of failing.
Risk taught me how to stretch, adapt, and keep going even when it was uncomfortable. Every bold decision I’ve made from launching during uncertain times, to pricing my work with confidence has pushed me closer to who I want to be.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
LA Flower Girl is a floral and gifting experience rooted in connection. In a city like Los Angeles, where traffic and busy schedules often keep people apart, my work is about helping them stay connected, through meaningful gestures.

What sets us apart is the range and intention behind every gift. We offer Forever Roses, preserved arrangements that can last up to two years without the need for water or sunlight. Because they don’t require ongoing care, they help reduce energy use and water waste, making them a more sustainable option with a smaller carbon footprint. As a small business, everything is more personal. We take our time with each customer and every order, we put love into every detail.

What I’m most proud of is that I started with nothing and I never gave up. No matter how hard it got, I kept going, and I’ve learned so much along the way. Building a business from the ground up hasn’t been easy, but it’s been deeply rewarding. Seeing it grow and knowing there’s still so much more ahead is what excites me the most.

There are always challenges in business, but before the world slowed down, I was doing florals for events. Then everything changed, and I had to pivot quickly to focus solely on e-commerce. Prices for flowers went up and that’s when I introduced teddy bears. I didn’t expect it, but people really connected with them. I actually sell more teddy bears now than flowers. They’re just as special as a floral arrangement, often more affordable. Teddy bears are for all ages. Everyone needs one.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of taking care of yourself, even when you’re exhausted, even when there’s still a million things to do. I’ve had to remind myself that rest isn’t a luxury, it’s part of the process. Go for a walk. Meet up with a friend. Learning to find balance has been essential. Don’t give up, but don’t burn out either.

I want the world to know that my brand is about authenticity, heartfelt giving, and making moments memorable through intentional, artful gifts that connect people no matter the distance.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA has so many layers, and depending on the phase of life I’m in, different parts of the city speak to me. Right now, I’m in my Santa Monica era.
I like to keep things balanced a little luxury, a little creativity. I’m always drawn to places that feel unique and beautiful, whether it’s a hidden gem or something a little more polished.

If my best friend were visiting for a week, we’d explore a mix of everything that makes LA feel magical.
We’d start with dinner somewhere charming like Checker Hall. It’s one of my favorite restaurants right now. Afterwards, head to Santa Monica and pop in for a beverage at The Georgian Hotel. I love a hotel moment, especially one with beautiful architecture and design. Downtown LA would definitely be on the list…I love Clifton’s, it feels straight out of another time.
One day might be more relaxed. Take a boat ride through Marina del Rey on the $1 water taxi, which is such a hidden treat. Somewhere during the week, we’d fit in a hike in Studio City, then sushi after. Ventura Boulevard has so many sushi restaurants, it’s basically LA’s unofficial sushi row.
We’d definitely spend a day in Beverly Hills and always leave room for spontaneous detours, because in LA, the best moments are often the ones you don’t plan.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to the friends who let me dream out loud and to my team, the people whose encouragement, hard work, and loyalty keep me going every day.
And finally, my biggest shoutout goes to Los Angeles for being so wildly expensive and competitive that I’ve had no choice but to hustle harder, dream bigger, and keep evolving.
