Meet Tina Obaid | CEO LA Hair Candy & Beauty Business Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Obaid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my business, I was working in the financial industry, where I had the privilege of helping multiple people start and grow their businesses. That experience taught me a lot about entrepreneurship and inspired me to find a business opportunity that I would love and feel passionate about. I wanted to create something that not only aligned with my interests but also allowed me to give back to my community.
When I discovered the hair and beauty industry, it was the perfect match. I saw an opportunity to provide high-quality products and services while empowering individuals to feel confident and beautiful.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
LA Hair Candy is a brand built on passion, determination, and a vision to empower others. What started from selling hair out of the trunk of my car has grown into a thriving business with two physical locations in Compton and Long Beach. We serve clients who value quality, style, and affordability. Our mission is simple but powerful to provide access to luxury wigs, hair extensions, and hair services without requiring people to spend a fortune. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, confident, and seen.
But LA Hair Candy is about more than just hair. It’s a platform for growth, empowerment, and opportunity. I’ve had the privilege of mentoring hairstylists and aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them develop their skills, grow their businesses, and chase their own dreams. Creating opportunities for others is one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
Getting to this point wasn’t easy. I’ve faced countless challenges, from financial hardships to navigating the complexities of managing a growing team and fostering employee retention. Building a positive work environment where people feel supported, valued, and inspired to grow has been a top priority. There were moments when it would have been easier to give up, but I stayed focused on my vision. I leaned on my faith, learned to adapt, and stayed committed to my goals. I realized that success doesn’t happen overnight, and every setback was an opportunity to grow stronger and smarter.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that your “why” has to be bigger than you. For me, it’s my daughters. Everything I do is rooted in showing them that hard work, resilience, and faith in your dreams can turn the impossible into reality. LA Hair Candy is a legacy in the making. It’s about creating something that stands the test of time not just for me, but for my daughters and for the community I serve.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about LA Hair Candy, it’s that this brand was built from heart, hustle, and purpose. It’s proof that you can start from anywhere and still rise. It’s a reminder that beauty is for everyone, and that real success is measured by how many people you lift up along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d make sure every day was filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. Here’s how we’d spend our time:
Day 1: We’d kick things off at the Long Beach Pier, walking along the waterfront, enjoying the ocean breeze, and soaking in the beautiful coastal views. For dinner, we’d head to Parker’s Lighthouse, where the food is amazing, the atmosphere is cozy, and the view of the sunset over the water is unbeatable. We’d sip cocktails and hang out.
Day 2: We’d turn up the fun with a trip to Top Golf in El Segundo. It’s the perfect spot to laugh, play golf , and enjoy some great food and drinks. We’d bring out a little friendly competition while vibing to the music and soaking up the good energy.
Days 3 & 4: It’s time to slow things down and focus on self-care. We’d head to Murrieta Hot Springs for a peaceful two-day escape. Between the warm, mineral-rich hot springs and spa treatments, it would be all about relaxation and recharging. We’d stay overnight so we could truly soak it all in.
Day 5: After feeling refreshed, we’d make our way to San Antonio Winery in Los Angeles. We’d do a wine tasting, savor a delicious lunch, and enjoy the sounds of live music. It’s one of those places where time seems to slow down, letting you fully enjoy good wine, good food, and good company.
Day 6: To close out the week, we’d go all out with a Newport Beach Dinner Cruise. We’d toast, talk and enjoy one last night out before she heads back home.
