Meet Tom Goss: Singer, Songwriter, Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tom Goss and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tom, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I don’t know how to balance. I’m a workaholic. Fortunately for me, 2020 has stripped most of my work away from me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to approach my life, and art, in a much more balanced way. I’ve learned to enjoy bike rides, walks, and sitting at home with my husband in a way I couldn’t have understood in 2019. 

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I write music and create videos that help tell my (and my community’s story). As a gay man, I’ve often seen my story overlooked for that which is most digestible by the greatest common denominator. I strive to tell stories that are hard to tell and often controversial. These are stories of people of that have flourished throughout adversity, changing the world along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite nature tourism spots are La Brea Tar Pits, Venice Beach and Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. For nightlife I love BootieLA, Disco Saturday’s at Oil Can Harry’s, or Bears in Space at Akbar. For food, Ramen at Ramenya, Thai at Night + Market, Buffalo Cauliflower at Sage Vegan Bistro and Chilaquiles at Venice Bakery. I miss those places. It feels like I haven’t been there in forever.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my story to my husband, who has been by my side since the beginning.
