Hi toni, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Historically, I’ve never been a risk taker in business. I was one in my personal life. In 2016, I finally got the courage to step out and start my own consulting business. I initially had a partner. She left the business within the first year. For some reason, I believed I needed a partner to make the business work. I did not. It was simply imposter syndrome. I had everything inside me to be a successful business owner. I was enough, but I had to believe that. Now, I do. In business school, I learned the higher the risk, the higher the gain. In life, I’ve learned, the higher the risk, the higher the growth. I believe in taking risks both personally and professionally. I’ve seen that when people play it safe, they never grow. I want to grow. I want to have experiences. I trust God and the universe enough to know I will be okay.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2016, I co-founded 4LeafConsulting. 4LeafConsulting is a California cannabis licensing and compliance consulting firm dedicated to offering clients a practical approach to establishing their cannabusinesses. 4LeafConsulting specializes in local and state licensing, interpreting cannabis regulations, strategic partnerships, contract negotiation and drafting and operational business strategies. I am most proud of our commitment to integrity and industry knowledge. Our consultants have not stood on the sideline, they are part of the industry. We have helped operators expand their businesses. We have negotiated leases, created operating agreements, and worked with cannabis operators to build their businesses. We want our clients to be successful. Unfortunately in this industry, there are many bad players. Not with 4LeafConsulting. We pride ourselves on our reputation and our ability to get things done.

I’ve learned to believe in myself and trust the process. If I don’t get a particular job, I don’t stress. I know that there is something better for me down the line.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love classic LA. I love Chinatown, Little Tokyo and downtown LA. I would start at Ocean Seafood in Chinatown and for drinks downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
You have to do the work. I believe in doing the work. I want to shoutout all the therapists and spiritual counselors I have used over the years. The most influential books I have read are, The 4 Agreements, You Are a Badass, Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway, and The 7 Pillars of Manifestation.
