We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Camaro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tony, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
never give up
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Art isn’t just what I paint, its the way I think, its the beauty I see in the world, the hope that I have for our future. The art I create is a means to express ideas visually but it certainly is hard to encompass all of my thoughts and feelings about, perhaps a bigger mission statement, with one piece. Im excited to see progress every day. I love how one idea leads to the next. Im constantly growing and learning and I think one of the coolest things about life and art is how much you can learn from being alone with yourself.
I don’t know where I am “professionally” – Im just a kid trying to make the world a better place. I wake up and I do my part. I try my best, I work really hard and I remind myself that there is zero rush. There is no need to rush anymore, I am not here to compete, Im here to support everybody.
I want the world to know that anybody can do anything that they set their mind too. Granted, I am so fortunate to happen to live in Los Angeles and can’t quite relate to kids all over the world, with maybe more difficult situations, but I speak my truth to let them know that I believe in them and that the world is ours.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I can’t blow up all my favorite spots (hehe), but I will say there is some amazing look outs and food in the city.
I love going to Echo Park Park- grab a beer with some friends and watch the sunset.
Guisados is a great Mexican spot
If you’re downtown Pizzanista is my favorite pizza
I love going to galleries and museums – check out MOCA ( / The Geffin Contemporary) , The Broad, all the big ones. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A big shout out to my mom and dad
