Meet Tony Malzone

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Malzone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tony, why did you pursue a creative career?
Throughout all of my creative pursuits, passions, and stories, I’ve always said, “A human is the greatest art form, and the human experience is the greatest story.” Humanity has defined creativity, and it is our creativity that defines us. Creativity has made us the most advanced species our world has ever known. It’s enhanced our human experience to know no bounds other than that of our own imagination. When we think of eras past, it’s not the mundane that survives our memory, it’s the progressive leaps in innovation and society. The bold statements in fashion, music, and film. The enshrining of significance in physical art, and architecture. One day, when everyone of today is no longer around, what will remain is what we did here, what we made here. There is an old saying, “Show, don’t tell”. It’s the feeling that sticks. It’s those unforgettable, “you just had to be there” moments. Great art is felt. So long as the feeling of an artist’s work is felt, a piece of them lives on. This is what we live for. This is why pursue my creative passions. Human creativity is everything we’ve ever been and everything we could be in one cohesive story. Producing work that pushes the bounds of creativity and enhances the human experience is at the center of my belief that anything is possible and that at the center of our human development, will always be our creativity.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A great producer is the fluid intersection between innovative creativity and technical strategy. I’m a producer by way of who I am, a true left-brain / right-brain thinker. From a young age, I beamed with expressiveness while maintaining a sharp mind for the strategical, being a producer is where my mind shines brightest. I’ve been lucky to have had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest talents of today. To be able to hear their stories, and provide them with the resources they need to execute their artistic vision is one of the best parts of my job.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this city. For generations, people have come here to dream bigger, see further, and have fun. I want to show them exactly that. I want to show them what dreaming bigger looks like, I want to show them Olvera St where it all started, The Walk of Fame where it grew, and Rodeo Drive where it flourished. I want to show them how we see further to the stars from the Griffith Observatory. Further into our past at the La Brea Tar Pits, and further into ourselves at The Getty. I wanna show them backroads you’d go to if you were in Fun, Fun, Fun, by The Beach Boys. I wanna show them the beach the boys would go, and then show them the Sunset Strip and probably see a show.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a friend, his name’s Jay Soni, an architect, painter, and designer. I’ve known him since we were in high school. I wasn’t a very focused kid, I was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. As I bounced around, he stayed the same, not in a stagnant way, but in a stable way. He enjoyed the little things in nature and art. I learned a thing or two from him. I learned how to slow down, how to find the meaning in the ordinary, and to appreciate the beauty in the extraordinary. I learned how to take care. To care of yourself, to take care of nature, and to take care of the details, the little things. I often began to think to myself, “Oh, this is what we live for, this is what it’s all about.” This is what John Keating was talking about when he said “We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute…these are what we stay alive for.” I felt it, and there was no going back, I fell in love with talented people, the moments they make, and the stories they create. I fell in love with the why, the how, the beauty, and the balance behind it all. Jay didn’t tell me the world was an art piece, he showed me how to take a step back, and I saw it for myself.
