We had the good fortune of connecting with Torean Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Torean, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
From a young age I had a passion for being silly and entertaining, in high school during lunch I would have kids gathered around my table as I told jokes and acted a fool! The exhilaration of making friends and school mates laugh and entertaining them had a profound effect on me. I really couldnt picture myself doing anything but being, in some shape or form, an actor or comedian. From there I knew I had to pursue a career in entertainment.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been acting since I was 18, and at that time i thought it was all i would ever do. Growing older things change, you begin to look at life with a different set of eyes. I was struggling to get to auditions, i was literally starving and a fear sets in to tell you this thing, this passion that you have isn’t realistic and you need to do something else to survive. So i quit being an actor at the ripe old age of 24. I got a job as a contractor for Sony selling Vaio Laptops and working my way all the way up to a corporate leader at Sony. Honestly it was great for almost 10 years there, It was a blessing. I bought a House, my dream car, traveled and bought way too many shoes. Then along came the pandemic and it forced everyone to take a deep look inside of themselves and inside of myself was a creative begging to come out, and I knew I couldn’t keep going as I was. So I quit my job, sold my house, moved to LA knowing pretty much no one and at a terrifying age!

Being an actor and having a passion to drive me saved my life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this portion to my parents, neither one of my parents got to see me live my dreams of being on TV or in movies. My parents never even knew what I wanted to do with my life, they never really pushed me to do anything in particular. They just loved me and let me be free. So everything I do now, I do with the hope they are watching over me.
