We had the good fortune of connecting with Totiana White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Totiana, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
There are many things in the entertainment business that outsiders aren’t aware of but the most common thing is that the music industry is very competitive like sports. To be honest a lot of Artist are in it to win it for themselves or their crew, which is cool. But I’ve learned when you can bring a region of Artist, groups and communities together your far more powerful and appreciated. Like they say it’s lonely at the top. My thing is who wants to be alone at the top, not me! So if anyone is trying to get into the entertainment industry just know you’re getting into the sport of music. And like any sport you have to have the right coach, the right team players and a support system.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business provides live performance platforms and artist development. In that is a wide variety of content created, so we like to sum up the business as a talent agency. We book venues, artist and put on amazing shows throughout the Bay Area including cities like Las Vegas and Los Angeles. I’m mostly proud of all the connections I’ve made over the years and working with so many people throughout the world. I’m excited to continue to travel and share the gift of performing arts.

I had to sacrifice a lot as a single mother like my time working. I had to invest a lot of money into my craft and business. Take time to educate myself through hundreds of hours in studying music, business, community health work and other related courses to get to where I am today. Time management, resources and funding were always the components when in the entertainment business. But through it all I always found support or a way to achieve my goals.

The lessons I’ve learned, were to set goals. Write out your goals and when you accomplish them mark it off so you can move to the next goal. I know if I keep working hard and being the creative I am that I will leave a legacy of impact, memories, music accomplishments and faith in others. A legacy is not always material but the impact left in people hearts.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots really depend on the city I’m in. If I’m in San Francisco, and its sunny outside hands down we’re going to Ocean Beach, shopping at Macys downtown and eating at numerous spots like House of Prime Rib, Taqueria El Farolito on mission & hitting up Mitchell’s Ice Cream. If it’s cold outside or raining then we at the museums like de Young Museum and California Academy of Science. The movies are my go to too, IMAX at AMC Metreon 16 downtown.

When I’m in Los Angeles, my favorite places to go of course is Hollywood, Hollywood Boulevard has over 10 blocks of everything you could want. So I’m usually at Ovation Hollywood mall but if you don’t want to walk the strip then I recommend Disneyland Park. It’s still alot of walking but at least the park has trains you can catch. You can even get on a tour bus on Hollywood boulevard if you’re not up for walking.

I also enjoy Valencia Town Center because I pretty much love the malls. Downtown Los Angeles and Fashion District also have alot of food places and beautiful scenery to take pictures and do videos if you’re up for content creating. To be honest my real happy places in LA is any Hilton hotel. I like sleeping in high places lol and there’s always food and a bar in the Hilton plus a hot tube and swimming pool.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Time to give my shoutout! I never knew any of these organizations or entities would be my main supporters and I have many but I wouldn’t be where I am today without the financial funding from Bayview Opera House, Dream Keeper Initiative, OEWD – Office of Economic & Workforce Development, YBCA – Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and AAACC – African American Art and Culture Complex. I also have to give a huge shoutout to the host of BAY AREA HIP HOP & R&B music artist I’ve worked with on my shows and cohorts these past 2 years. And shoutout to my daughter for being my biggest supporter and every person I haven’t name individually- you know you’ve helped along my journey. I love and appreciate you! I wouldn’t be able to close the shoutout without thanking God, Jesus & The Holy Spirit who has guided me, blessed me and sustained me through it all.
