We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Legal Talk With Tracy Sanders ( www.legaltalkwithtracysanders.com) has been established to provide legal aspects of currently trending events. What sets me apart from others is that I have an exceptional ability to help my audience understand how legal system affects our daily lives. I am most excited about speaking engagements and providing insights about the United States legal system. I have a record of success based on my legal skills, knowledge, and education. It has not been easy, but I am grateful for support from family, friends, and team members. I have overcome challenges by focusing on my vision, mission, and accomplishments thus far.

Lessons –

ABCs:
1. A belief in your Higher Power and/or the greatest version of yourself is necessary.
2. Be perseverant and flexible (prepare for disappointment and demonstrate a willingness to embrace change).
3. Choose positive energy (people, places, and things) and excellent mentors.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m an accomplished attorney, author, and speaker in Los Angeles.

I established Natural Hair and the Law, an organization formed to provide publications, workshops, and events addressing legal issues related to natural hair in the workplace and schools. I have an upcoming release, The Crown Act Handbook: The Official Guide to Hair Texture Discrimination. Additionally, I’m the author of Natural Hair Affirmations and Natural Hair in the Workplace: What Are Your Rights?, which has been featured in Essence, Los Angeles Sentinel, and the Black Caucus of the American Library Association and Natural. These books are available for purchase online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

I’ve received several prestigious accolades and awards. I was honored with California Senator Sydney Kamlager Sister Circle Award and Certificate of Special Recognition from U.S. Congresswoman Karen Bass for her outstanding community service. I’ve been nominated as a recipient of Netflix Business Award, Ebay Up & Running California Program, and Comerica Bank Los Angeles Lakers Women’s Business Award. I was a featured speaker at Yale University, LA Law Library, Corporate Counsel Women of Color Conference, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Leadership Seminar.

I’ve made appearances on TV networks such as ABC, Fox, MSNBC, TLC, and WE. I am the founder of the Attorney Tracy Sanders Foundation, a public charity, with the mission to promote liberty, empowerment, and justice.

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at the University of South Carolina, Master of Public Administration degree at the University of South Carolina, Juris Doctorate degree at Syracuse University College of Law, and Women’s Entrepreneurship certificate at Cornell University. I’m a member of the American Bar Association, American Society for Public Administration, and Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. I’m strongly committed to philanthropic endeavors and particularly interested in community service initiatives to help young people achieve their education and career goals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is not a week that goes by when I’m not on one of my favorite places (The Grove, The Ritz Carlton, Santa Monica Beach, Ranchos Palos Verdes, and LCMA).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I will politely pass on this question.
