We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Covington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Travis, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because of my love for the art of production. Shooting videography, photography and filmmaking, it gives me the opportunity to create at a high level. It also allows me to influence and entertain the audience’s eye with my own style of work. I have the luxury of managing my own work hours, and having patience with my craft. The lifestyle can be artsy, lots of fun, and full of creativity, but it also brings obstacles that will strengthen you as a creative. Sometimes you’re not in the mood to create, not everyone will like the work that you do, and there can be some moments of inconsistency. However, you have to KEEP PUSHING! I am confident that whenever I’m in the middle of a creative dry spell, I have to slow things down, write it out, and allow my mind to flow within itself. It’s truly a beautiful thing.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is displayed throughout my video, photo, and film work. I love to create comedy skits, thrillers, dramas, recreate tiktoks, and take professional photos for clients and friends. What sets me apart from others is my undeniable work ethic and passion. I love to wake up early and stay up late if that’s what it takes to complete and progress within my craft. Which also leads into how I’ve been given the opportunity to get to where I am today. I am solution focused with outstanding personality. Aside of being able to speak to anyone, I believe I have an amazing way of making others feel comfortable and welcomed enough to work with me.
Nothing in life is easy. The way I overcome challenges within my craft is mastering the art of failure. PEOPLE! You are going to fail at things sometimes! And that is completely okay! The great thing about being a creative is that there is no right answer. Some people are going to love my work, others may not. However, I will embrace it all and allow it to create the fire inside of me to grow as an artist in the industry.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would give my best efforts of being the best host for my friends, haha! I live in Los Angeles, California. I always recommend going to the beach with my friends from out of town. Santa Monica, Venice, Laguna, and Malibu beaches are my favorite ones. Next, we can visit other interesting areas like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, Rodeo Drive. Hiking the Runyon Canyon in Hollywood is always fun and exciting also! I am also a fan of the late Nipsey Hussle’s influence in his neighborhood, so I would make sure that I gave my friends the opportunity to see his famous shopping plaza and the culture of the area. The places to eat out here are ENDLESS! We would be able to eat wherever we would want!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thanks Shoutout! I would love to give a big shoutout to GOD. Everything that takes place in my life is because of his glory. I would also like to thank my family, friends, and my brothers of my fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. I deeply appreciate them all for the love, support, and how much they hold me accountable for everything I put my efforts into.
