We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Swope and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Travis, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I didn’t plan on opening my own business. But, I was always a hustler and just knew I needed to be my own boss.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own Two Felons Skate Shop in Whittier CA. Two Felons is family owned and operated since 2004. With the help of my older brother Brandon, better known as “Fat Boy”, For over 17 years we have run one of the most well known skateboard shops in Southern California. It has never been easy. It’s a daily struggle to stay relevant and keep people interested in what we have here. The recipe has always stayed the same, do what we like, don’t chase trends, stay involved in your community, treat everyone who walks through those doors like family, and don’t be scared to piss some people off along the way!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

This is Southern California. The possibilities are endless for a good time! Grab a burger at Big D’s in Whittier. Slice of Pizza in Downtown at Pizzanista then stop in for a drink at Tony’s saloon next door. Back to back visits to BLVD Cocktails Paramount then Anaheim. Smash some Tacos at some taco trucks! But, Honestly. Come to the Skate Shop. There is a vast array of characters in and out our doors daily. Skateboarders, Outlaws, Punk Rockers, Lowriders, and Weirdos! Always a great time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends and family have really made me who I am. Without that support system I would have failed many times over.
