We had the good fortune of connecting with Treshon Lyniece and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Treshon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business Skyscraper Collection in one of the darkest times of my life, I was living in Chicago and had just singed to a major modeling agency. What i thought was going to be the height of my career was actually one of my lowest. Even at a time where I felt incredibly discouraged, I invested my last to get my brand off the ground. My thought process was very simple: If people dont give you a way make one. I knew that it was important for me to build something that allowed me to still do what i love as a model and creative, and more importantly build something to highlighted other models. I felt the industry didnt showcase enough women that looked like me or the women I know. I wanted to create a space that re-defined the beauty and body standard especially for women of color.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a journey that has been filled with many highs and lows, so I’m most proud of my resilience. My ability to get up and keep trying even when my back is against the wall. I want people to know that through all the rejection, disappointment and struggle you may face there is purpose in it, you have to dig deep and know that someone needs your story. One thing that helped me overcome some of my biggest challenges is hearing other peoples testimony. like Tyler Perry, Steve Harvey and Tarjai P Henseon just to name a few. I am strong believer in God and I trust that what He allows me to go through is to be shared to encourage others. Never be ashamed of your process, I want to share my story because I know what I needed in those times of growing weary and feeling alone. My brand Skyscraper represents those who overcome obstacles and reach for new heights. In short, at the end of every test we go higher and we get stronger.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Considering the fact that I’ve grown to be such a homebody I love LA for the simple things like the scenery. I get inspired by hiking, going to the beech, and grabbing food at a cute restaurant with good appetizers. Some of the most fun and interesting things to do for me is karaoke, museums and art galleries. I’m a visual person so my idea of fun is always found in places that leave me feeling inspired or full from love & good food.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who have helped me along the way, too many to name but there is a special place in my heart for my grandmother Vanessa who inspired me to start my brand Skyscraper Collection. She is apart of the “Why” behind my brand because she called me her “little “Skyscraper” Which in short represents someone who consistently overcomes obstacles. When you think of a Skyscraper building it takes the longest time to build yet it stands the tallest among all the other buildings. She constantly reminded me that I am symbolic of what it means to rise from the bottom to the top.
