We had the good fortune of connecting with TT The Artist and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TT, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Time and tide wait for no man” by Geoffrey Chaucer is one of my favorite quotes as it reminds me to always be present and take advantage of every moment and opportunity. It also reminds me to be grateful for how far I have come in my life while also keeping me motivated on what my future holds

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My approach to making art is boundless. I have always been a multihyphenate creative working in a variety of mediums. My versatility really helps me carve out my own lane. I presently work as a full-time influencer, musician, visual artist, and film director. I am also an entrepreneur. I have two companies “Club Queen Records,” a women-focused indie record label, and “Artistland Studios,” an intersectional media production company. I believe consistency is what has helped my career evolve and grow professionally. With any journey, there will be challenges you face along the way. For me, my challenge as an independent artist and entrepreneur has been finding resources to fund my ideas. I can not say I have overcome these challenges entirely, but I can say that I have found applying for grants has enabled me to get some of my projects off the ground. Ultimately, every project comes with its own challenges and solutions. I am learning lessons every day to make a better life for myself and my family. I am learning that success is about placing value on what you do, knowing your worth, practicing ideas around an abundant mindset, and taking chances on your dreams. I would want the world to know that I lived… I lived the best life I could live and changed a few lives along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite things is going to the Beach so here are my top Beaches-

Santa Monica Beach- The Pier is a must! It has good eats, arcades, a rollercoaster, Ferris wheel, and more. After exploring the pier be sure to head to the beach and wind down

Venice Beach- love love love the vendors! Great spot to grab some souvenirs and get a taste of LA culture from local street performers

Manhattan Beach- If you are looking for a laid-back vibe and going on a date. I recommend watching the sunset on Manhattan Beach

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shout-out to Issa Rae. Issa Rae is someone who has opened doors for me as a BIPOC creative. When I made my first documentary film “Dark City Beneath The Beat,” a musical doc about the Baltimore club music and dance culture, she made sure my story was seen and heard. She is a businesswoman who really talks the talk and walks the walk when it comes to uplifting others in her community.
