Meet Tyler Argento: Personal Trainer & Yoga Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Argento and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk, this word brings up a lot of emotions and thoughts when I think about it. Risk has played a big role in my life and in my career. If we think about the word risk, life is full of risk taking. We never know what the result is going to be when we try something new, yet we still try, and that is the risk we take. We accept that their could be possible success or failure, and I admire that about the concept of risk. Risk taking can be scary, however I this is truly where I think a lot of magic and growth happens.
Like I said earlier, risk has played many roles in my life, in my personal life and my career. I believe we take risks when entering a relationship, getting out of a relationship, taking on a new role, a new job, leaving a job, having a hard discussion with someone… and in so many other ways to.
Risk has played a significant role in my career. Before I was living out my “dream job”, I was a bank teller, and then shortly was promoted to Lead Teller/Operations Management Team. I was dreaming daily about what it would be like to work in the fitness industry. I was working out everyday and learning about effective training through my own training and talking to mentors and coaches I had, and was slowly starting to learn about nutrition here and there. I was so passionate about living a healthy lifestyle, so much that I majored in Exercise Science and Health Education as my degree in College. I knew eventually I wanted to be a full time personal trainer, and I was willing to take any risk to achieve this goal.
Ultimately, one day I woke up and knew I could not continue this lifestyle of working in Corporate America and my current job working in the banking industry, I knew I had to follow my gut. I had to take the RISK and put myself out there and be willing to get a little uncomfortable if I ever wanted to reach my goals of working in the fitness industry.
Taking a risk in my opinion is always worth it. The key to feeling confident in the risk you are taking comes in the process of putting real thought into your decisions and the game plan of how you are going to get to where you want to be. Before I took the leap of faith and took the risk of quitting my banking job before I started personal training, I thought about what would happen if the plan did not go as planned. I made sure to have a back up plan that I knew would eventually support the next step to my long term goal. This is what made me feel confident if I did not succeed with plan A, and this is what helped keep me going, and staying motivated. It is easy to get discouraged when taking a risk (especially if it does not work out how you had planned) however, there is so much growth that happens during those moments. The entire journey and process is worth it, and there is so much to be learned.
Ultimately you will always win if you take a risk., Thats my motto at least.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I currently am working my dream job as a Personal Trainer and Yoga Teacher. I also work the front desk at WORK Training Studio in Irvine, California- and I am obsessed! I currently have personal training clients that I see on a weekly basis, whether that be in person, at their houses, in studio, or virtual training. I also currently teach private yoga sessions and semi-private sessions. This definitely consumes most of my work week, and it is truly a blast!
In addition, I work the front desk at WORK Training Studio. I work the front desk 4-5 times a week and also help with producing our online classes with our online group fitness platform, it’s super cool!
My ultimate dream drop is to work in group fitness. I want to teach classes and encourage and motivate a group of people to do things they never thought they would be able to. I personally thrive and enjoy group fitness myself, and have been taking all types and forms of group fitness classes for my entire life, especially the past 10 years, in addition to also playing recreational sports.
I thrive off peoples energy in the training room and I love the community that comes a long with it.
What am I most proud of?
So many things. I am so proud of myself for how far I have come in this journey, and to be able to say I am a personal trainer/yoga teacher. I take major pride in this, and I have worked so hard to get to where I am today, At one point (in the beginning) I was working 3 jobs… bank teller during the day, personally training clients in the evening, and then going into my yoga teacher trainings at night and would get home from the day anywhere from 11-11:30pm. All in addition to my own work outs, having somewhat of a social life, and also managing my life. They were VERY long days, and I worked extremely hard to take care of myself during these strenuous times. It was all worth it, no doubt about it! I continuously told myself that this too shall pass, it wouldn’t always be this physically and mentally hard, and that this was only getting me to the next step, my ultimate goal. On that note, here I am 5 years later writing this… I just got chills.
Overcoming challenges was (and still is) probably the toughest part of my journey. I think most people would say facing challenges is the toughest part of any journey and i believe this is where we are really tested to see if what we want and what were working towards is what we really want. It is easy to get discouraged during times of working.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is one of my favorite questions! I love exploring my own city, I like to call this a staycation. On that note I definitely love giving my friends a tour when they come to visit! Everything is gorgeous in Southern California, and I love getting outside as much as possible! If my best friend was in town we would do all the things! The perfect day would look like this…
We would wake up with the sun and get outside immediately and go on a walk to my favorite coffee shop that is located in Costa Mesa. This coffee shop is called Coffee Dose and is amazing!!! Coffee Dose is a shop that I frequent weekly and has all the wonderful “clean” ingredient options that I appreciate so much! My go-to order is the Mocha (it’s vegan, no dairy- yay!) with Collagen added. I love many other things on the menu to, you can’t go wrong with any of the drink options and make sure you try the vegan banana bread, it is to die for!
Then after we grab our coffee we would head down to the beach. I love walking the boardwalk at Newport Beach, its so peaceful and definitely a great way to start the day with sunshine and the smell of the salty air! There are so many amazing restaurants down by the beach that I love so much, however one spot that I eat at often is the Helmsman Ale House in Newport Beach. I love all their menu options and the staff is amazing! My favorite thing on the menu is the brussels sprouts appetizer and the avocado arugula wrap. I have food allergies to dairy and gluten and the staff is always so accommodating with my orders which is a huge relief, just another reason why I love them SO much!
After lunch we would head back to the beach to enjoy the sunny, beautiful, California weather and relax on the beach with a good book, music, or podcast.
After the beach we would either go on a afternoon bike ride around the Upper Back Bay trail in Newport Beach/Irvine area or we would shop at a few of the best small town shops by the beach. I love visiting May Martin at The Lab Mall, this is where I get all my dainty, beautiful, jewelry. I think everyone should own a piece of jewelry from this cute little shop! It’s located in Costa Mesa and they sell their jewelry out of an adorable airstream. It is cute and hip, go check them out! You are supporting a small business to which I love!
A few of my favorite places to stop by for healthy snacks around the city during the day, especially when out and about is Jan’s Health Bar and Nekter Juice Bar. I LOVE their acai bowls, smoothies, and drinks! Also, another yummy restaurant, I I love to frequent is Mother’s Market & Kitchen for a quick and easy healthy meal or snack!
Dinner is my favorite meal of the day, I love trying out new restaurants with friends and I am a total foodie. I am also a huge fan of Mexican food and I love visiting Playa Mesa. Another amazing restaurant located in Costa Mesa, California. I have held my birthday party here the past 3 years and I also love visiting for their craft drinks and amazing organic Mexican food! It is to die for! Make sure to try to chicken tacos, any of their salads, and their organic skinny margarita! After we have had dinner at Playa Mesa, we would head over to The Wild Goose Tavern which is next door, for a late night drink and a little socializing! The food here is also amazing and they have the best Taco Tuesday’s!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
