Meet Tyler Conway

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Conway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Growing up I always challenged the idea of what society wanted my life to look like versus the vision I had for myself. I have chosen to venture off from the traditional path. I moved to New York City, took a gap year after my sophomore year of college and pursued a career in hospitality to fund my dreams. My desire was always to center my life around my passions, hobbies and goals as opposed to my career. And growing up I was taught that your life needs to be centered around your education and then the career that follows. The greatest risk I’ve ever taken has simply been letting the universe guide my life without any hesitation that it would lead me in the wrong direction. Trusting in divine timing and the universe has brought some amazing opportunities my way. It’s okay to live in your 20s without knowing what your next few steps will be. Life can be spontaneous and beautiful that way.
I believe there is a quote that reads “great risk leads to great reward”. I’d rather say that I went for it than to have missed out on what could have been. And thats how I choose to live my life everyday.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Ever since I began producing content on tik tok there has been one consistent message of mine that I always need to portray and that is to show people that they are not alone in how they feel. Tik Tok has allowed me to build a platform centered around talking about topics that tend to get overlooked and emotions that tend to get bottled up inside. It wasn’t until my first “viral” video that I realized we as young women are more in common that we think and that the emotions that we tend to hide from we aren’t the only ones experiencing them. I was overwhelmed with the amount of comments, dms and video responses when I just talked about the affects of not receiving male affection/attention during college and my early 20s. Yes that topic may sound minuscule or juvenile to some, but in fact there are so many women that can relate to that feeling and understand the impact that had on their lives. Creating a space where people feel comfortable to share their feelings, express their emotions and feel supported is all I ever want to do. Whether thats on tik tok, in person or wherever life leads me.
It was weird at first sharing so much about my personal life on the internet, but then I realized there is a greater need for emotional transparency and I was happy to provide that part.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shoutout to my mother, Kenya Conway. I attribute my success, growth and vision to the woman that has shaped me into who I am today. While I am grateful for so much, my favorite thing that my mom has taught me is that no dream, goal or vision is out of my reach. I am more than capable of achieving anything I set my mind out to do. That mindset has given me the confidence to approach anything in life with no hesitation.
