We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, how do you think about risk?
Risk are the biggest factor for any artists. All of the biggest jobs I have had come from me taking risks. For example the first major artists to work with me was Machine Gun Kelly. That came about from me going to On The Rox in West Hollywood where he was having his album release party for Tickets To MY Downfall. Using my size I pretended to be security for the night and basically had all access. I told him I was a 3d animator and that I would make some content for him as long as he reposted it. That content ended up being his tour visuals that year.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I moved to Hollywood from Chicago working as a video vendor for Sony Epic In 2016. After a few months my payments stopped coming in, so I quit and began working on Melrose. Little did I know that was a blessing in disguise because that was the year all the up-and-coming talent would spend all of their time on Melrose. I met a few different artists who I would shoot videos with, but one day I was dealing with somebody who brought a ridiculous amount of drugs to my set. I suggested not having it in the video but of course they wanted the world to know that they did these specific drugs. I proposed that I made 3d versions of the drugs instead and he loved that. When the video released, I was very happy with how it turned out and slowly began doing more and more 3d projects. With all this being said it’s so important to rebrand and evolve through all the moments you think you are majorly failing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So I’m about to go in to my 30’s so I don’t go out as much these days, but if I did.

To start the day off maybe some Mimosas at The bungalow in Santa Monica or Mama’s Shelter in Hollywood.
Spend the day hanging around a few creative friends on Melrose bouncing idea’s off of each other.
As the evening comes pregame at El Tejano in North Hollywood.
End the night at On The Rox in West Hollywood or Tenants Of The Tree’s in Silver Lake.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In 2020 I was working on an older Mac that was barely getting the job done and found myself pitching to multiple people to invest in me. The owner of the CryptoHouse Elle saw my vision and gave me enough funding for a brand-new computer set up along with a Mocap suit. So shout out Elle @LL.CEO
