We had the good fortune of connecting with Uche and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Uche, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe everything you’re afraid of has the power to hurt you. I mean true power lies in possibility right?. In the off chance that so many things will happen in so many ways and hopefully create a desired outcome. Everything you’re not, you have the chance to become and that’s what excites us about life.

My entire life is a risk. I’ve never been afraid to take one. It’s the key that has opened so many doors, and the jolt that has provided much needed clarity on many occasions. Those who don’t take risks will always be victims to what is and never victors of what will be. The reason i’m here is because I took a risk. The reason I might stay here is because someone might take an even bigger risk.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Music is my heart beat. Creating is my oxygen. Meditation my compass. This is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Pursuing art to the degree I feel it’s attainable is the Mount Everest climb of my universe. One thing I’ve learned is the biggest truth teller is yourself. Everytime I create I feel i speak for those who’s voices might not be heard and feel for those feelings we understand but can’t explain.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Gotta start the day with a workout at the local 24 Hour gym. Then hit your Sprouts or Trader Joe’s for smoothie ingredients. Go-Karting at K1 SPEED in Burbank. Joeys for lunch & atmosphere. Studio for the rest of the night because go hard or go home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out Chris Anokute. He was a music exec who at the time, was one of the first major people in the music industry to tell me “no”. He rejected me at a time I needed music & a helping hand more than ever in life, and it concocted a spirit, a kind of will that lives forever burrowed in my stomach & pushes me past everything I’m afraid & can think of. It has forced me to move so tenaciously through this journey, I feel the path behind me would be on fire if you ever looked.
