Meet Valerya Kanonov | Jewelry Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Valerya Kanonov and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valerya, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
As a one-woman business jewelry designer, I’ve cultivated several habits that have been crucial to my success with Valltasy and I’ll be honest: I’m still working on some of them 🙂
Passion for Design and Quality: My love for creating colorful gemstone jewelry drives me to continually improve my craft. This passion ensures that each piece is made with the utmost care, quality and love, which my customers recognize and appreciate.
Adaptability and Learning: Being open to learning new techniques, trends, and business strategies has allowed me to stay relevant in the ever-evolving jewelry market. It’s important to adapt and grow: things change all the time and we need to learn changing with them.
Work-Life Balance: As a mother, balancing my personal and professional life is vital. Ensuring I have time for my children and myself keeps me grounded and motivated. This balance translates into better creativity and productivity in my work.
Personal Connection with Customers: Building a personal connection with my customers is essential. Whether through personalized notes, remembering their preferences, or celebrating their milestones with them, this personal touch helps create a loyal customer base. Many of my customers became my friends and I cherish those friendships a lot!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career journey has been a blend of passion, creativity, and resilience. As the founder and designer behind Valltasy, I create colorful gemstone jewelry that brings joy and empowerment to women around the world. What sets Valltasy apart is the unique combination of vibrant colors and high-quality materials, which come together to create pieces that are both beautiful and meaningful.
Managing all aspects of the business as a solo entrepreneur has been a significant challenge. From design and production to marketing and customer service, I had to develop a diverse skill set. Balancing these responsibilities required excellent time management and the courage to seek help when needed. Over time, I learned the importance of self-care and maintaining a healthy work-life balance to ensure I could continue creating with passion and joy.
One of the proudest achievements for Valltasy is the community it has built. With over 97,000 followers on Instagram, Valltasy has become a source of inspiration and happiness for many women. The vibrant, colorful designs resonate with people, bringing a bit of joy and color into their daily lives. Each piece of jewelry is crafted with love and intention, reflecting my commitment to quality and authenticity.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way are numerous: I’ve learned to trust my instincts, embrace my creativity, and remain resilient in the face of challenges. I’ve also learned the importance of connecting with my customers on a personal level and the value of creating pieces that carry a deeper meaning.
To anyone starting their own journey, my advice is to follow your passion relentlessly. Embrace the challenges as opportunities for growth and never underestimate the power of persistence. Your unique story and perspective are your greatest assets—let them shine through in everything you do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Los Angeles, I’d take them to a mix of iconic and local favorite spots. We’d start with breakfast at République for its amazing pastries and ambiance, then head to Griffith Observatory for stunning city views. A stroll along the Hollywood Walk of Fame would be a must, followed by lunch at Grand Central Market to sample diverse foods. We’d spend the afternoon at The Getty Center, enjoying art and beautiful gardens. For dinner, Bestia in the Arts District offers a memorable dining experience. To unwind, we’d grab drinks at a rooftop bar like Perch, enjoying the sunset over the skyline. To round off the visit, we’d hit the beaches at Santa Monica and Venice, explore the trendy shops on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, and maybe even fit in a hike at Runyon Canyon for some outdoor fun and spectacular views.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely, I’d love to give a shoutout to the most important person in my life – my husband. His endless support has been a cornerstone of my journey with Valltasy. From the very beginning, he has believed in my vision and passion for creating jewelry. He was the only one who believed in me and pushed me forward!
Whether it’s helping with the business side of things, providing emotional support during challenging times, or celebrating the victories, big and small, he’s been my rock. His encouragement has given me the confidence to pursue my dreams and the strength to overcome any obstacles that come my way.
Running a one-woman business is no small feat, and having a partner who is always there, cheering me on, makes all the difference. My husband’s faith in my abilities and his willingness to help in any way possible has been instrumental in my success. I truly couldn’t have done it without him!
