Meet Van Peart | Artist & Creative Director : Van Peart Príve

We had the good fortune of connecting with Van Peart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Van, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“I’m in my own telescope”.
This quote means looking within should be your source. If you focus in on your life scope, you’ll be set apart.
I like to think my lense is dynamic technicolor.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My origins are a part of my story. What sets me apart from others is my interest in biology and anatomy as it applies to apparel or product design, not just for trend or appeal. I believe that is what makes me an artisan designer and not just a fashion lover. I have an element of passion & respect demanded for my work because of my specs and original patterns.
I’m most recently proud of my current placement in the Los Angeles showroom and socialite niche.
My upcoming season supply drafts show two phases/ sides of self with contrasting Art Deco items.
I’m still unfolding my innovations based on current dynamics and wanting to keep ownership. So, I always put out these capsules in phases to show more of what’s to come until my larger segment for a fashion experience.
I’m really excited about next season, which will incorporate multi- use innovations & intro tech functionality.
There’s a flip hoodie I designed about a decade ago that I will be bringing back in 3.0 format. It’s in an upgraded durable signature neoprene that is wear resistant.
Of course, new art is always being loaded. I’m working on “Hazz Land For All” illustrations on leather & applied textile.
These Canvases show a mix of my passion for music & will be accessible for impaired persons using sonica therapy. It’s a combination of digital and physical textured surfaces paired with my beats that I make.
I can’t fully discuss the finality until it’s released, just know it’s mood shifting!
I don’t prefer focus on the disconnects during the journey, but I’ve overcome challenges that may be relatable to others.
With some earlier collaborations I’ve helped on set, from cosmetic to custom styling. When I had limited access my handmade garments were misbranded a few times, unexpectedly. I’ve had private sketches or designs replicated despite agreements; but that’s the nature of the industry. This is not avoidable as an innovator. It just shows what the Creator has given me is original.
Now, with publishings & placement; I am looking towards expanding.
Building an empire you must be self motivated; especially doing business cross state.
I want to be viewed as resilient, and my brand seen as a lifestyle brand.
Through the years I’ve remained true to self, my signature details, and big on comfort functionality.
This Hazz Land of homies I’m building into a community,
is not just based on consumer interests. It’s for those joining my quest.
Now on the high road, you must breathe during and still after success.
I keep my mind on absorbing elements of life and nature, not social acceptance.
Human’s appreciation for art is always subjective. There are art lovers though who generally just want to be affiliated with what’s new.
As a visionary, always keep ahead on the next idea & adjust like a chameleon.
HAZZ LAND is the art aspect of
Van Peart Príve.
It consists of all season wear that is functional or multipurpose. Mixed Media illustrations are assembled on the back of jackets called “Jakk’s” & “Burna Trenches”.
The fit is for practicality, but the design is odd or complex.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I’m not designing, I’m always in need of food as fuel. If anyone is visiting or soon to be stationary in LA, here’s a few food suggestions. I’m a lover of comfort food, but I can appreciate vegan options.
One of my favorite spots is Crossroads Kitchen on Melrose. The pastas are so flavorful as well as the sides!
Not to be contrived, but Catch LA has the coziest aesthetic and a good menu.
At Pepe’s Red Tacos they have the best slow simmered Birria. It’s a food truck & everything tastes carefully cooked.
It’s unreal how delicious everything is there.
Love food spots that have a home cooked taste. I have yet to find a good Caribbean spot, maybe someone can lead me to it soon.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A community matriarch to me is someone who ally’s for education with wise council. This is fitting to describe my mother and advocate, Judith. She is certainly who I would love to shout out for her outreach with special needs, child tutoring, adult life coaching & faith.
She has been my main support, including dragging suitcases around with me for meetings or auditions.
Her multi service center:
“Excelerate Above” offers virtual or in person guidance tailored to the individuals concerns or needs.
Outreach services can be found at: excelerateaboveowingsmills.com
She partners with two leadership members Lauren Sali & Angie Robinson, both educators.
I join with her team on Art with Sound Therapies.
