We had the good fortune of connecting with Vaughn Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vaughn, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I think sometimes giving up is okay if you end up beating a dead horse. If you can tell that your project is not giving you results I think it’s fine to perhaps call it quits, but you should start on your next idea and get to it. If the personnel you are working with can’t provide when you need them to, then that is a sign that you need to work with people that can put in that effort.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art brings the mysticism and curiosity to the realm of rock and metal. DeadRise is all about wondering what’s next in our story and who will be affected. I am very excited about our new video release and can’t wait for everyone to see it. The artwork is stunning in this video! Getting to this stage of my music has not been easy so far. I have had another round of members leave the project which has been tough, not to mention we are itching to play some live shows with real people! DeadRise is currently trying to gain some new members to overcome this challenge. The lessons we have learned so far are, things will change even if they seem stable, and also that it’s not the end of the world if a member needs to move on. I would like the world to know that music venues are starting to go rogue and put on live music, and new outdoors venues are coming! So get excited for live music again!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well there is definitely going to be stops to STP bar and grill for burgers, boba and other restaurants on convoy in kearny mesa. And then the must visit destinations are ocean beach and lake murray/cowles mountain!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my band for sticking it out through the member drops. Dusty, vocals, and Ryan, guitar, can see that this band has a solid and growing fan base behind it and a mission to accomplish. They deserve thanks for not giving up.
