Meet Vernon François | Global educator, Celebrity hairstylist and brand founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vernon François and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vernon, what matters most to you?
The value that matters most to me is authenticity. Throughout my career in the hair and beauty industry, I’ve found that staying true to oneself is not only liberating but also essential for genuine connection and lasting impact. Authenticity allows me to bring my full self into every interaction, every creation, and every opportunity, whether I’m working with clients, creating new styles, or engaging with the community.
In the world of hair and beauty, where trends and perceptions can often be fleeting, remaining authentic ensures that the work I do is meaningful and resonates on a deeper level. It’s not just about following the latest trends; it’s about understanding the unique beauty of each individual and helping them express it in a way that feels true to who they are.
Authenticity drives innovation, inspires trust, and, most importantly, fosters self-acceptance. By embracing and celebrating our individuality, we can break down the barriers that often hold us back, empowering ourselves and others to live with confidence and purpose. That’s the kind of legacy I aim to leave in this industry—one where authenticity is the foundation of everything we do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There are several aspects that I believe set me apart from my peers, but it’s not just those qualities that contribute to success in any field. I’ve found that integrity, consistency, and technical expertise are crucial elements in building both sustainability and credibility in your profession. These qualities don’t just help you stand out; they lay the foundation for long-term growth and prosperity.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my consistency in my craft. It’s this dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence that have opened doors for me in the beauty industry. I’ve been fortunate to receive opportunities that align with my passion, and I’m deeply grateful for each one of them.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. The journey was filled with challenges—moments of self-doubt, unexpected obstacles, and the constant need to prove myself. But I learned early on that perseverance, coupled with a commitment to staying true to my vision, was key to overcoming those challenges.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is that success is not just about talent; it’s about the integrity with which you approach your work, the consistency in your efforts, and your ability to stay grounded in what you believe. My brand and my story are rooted in these principles. I want the world to know that what I do is not just about beauty—it’s about empowering individuals to feel confident and true to themselves, and that’s the legacy I strive to build every day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve been obsessed with rollerblading since I was about 6 or 7 years old, and it’s a passion that has stayed with me to this day. So, if my best friend were visiting, I’d definitely take them rollerblading around the city—we’d travel the world on wheels, soaking in the sights and getting an incredible full-body workout. I’m always trying to convince my friends to join me, and I’d make sure they had a blast doing it.
As for the rest of the week, I’m all about embracing nature and keeping things simple and fun. Since I don’t drink, smoke, or indulge in any kind of drugs—not even caffeine—I’m the person who’s all about offering a fantastic brunch followed by a scenic hike. We’d explore the best nature has to offer, discovering hidden trails, picturesque spots, and maybe even a few surprises along the way. I’m a cheap date, but an adventurous one, and I’d make sure every moment was filled with laughter, exploration, and the best memories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a handful of people who have undeniably contributed to me becoming the best version of myself. First and foremost, I want to recognize my parents. Though they may have felt they weren’t perfect, they never held me back from exploring my interests in hair and beauty. That freedom and support were crucial in sparking my passion and setting me on this path. It’s so important to have people who believe in your ideas and encourage you to keep that spark alive.
Another person who deserves a huge shoutout is one of my former bosses Vince Smith from a salon I worked at in Soho, London. He is an incredible human being who supported every ambitious idea I had, no matter how outlandish it seemed. His belief in me was transformative, and to this day, I am immensely grateful for his support.
Lastly, my husband has been a pillar of strength and encouragement. He has always been able to see and identify the potential in me long before I even realized it myself. His unwavering support has given me the strongest foundation I could ever have imagined, allowing me to build and grow into the person I am today. I’m deeply thankful for the love and belief that these individuals have shown me on this journey.
