We had the good fortune of connecting with Vicky Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vicky, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I first started my business, there was almost no separation between my personal and business life, which led to feeling chained to work despite the freedom from corporate life. My business consumed my thoughts 24/7, and I struggled to enjoy personal time.

Over time, I realized the importance of establishing boundaries, routines, and a schedule to create a healthier balance. This shift helped me draw a clearer line between work and personal life (although it’s still a work in progress).

The key has been recognizing the need for a better relationship between the two.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m most proud of my team and community. What sets us apart is our commitment to offering wholesome bars with truly clean ingredients.

Running a business comes with challenges, but I’ve learned to trust my intuition and handle problems by seeing them from different perspectives.

At farmers markets, we’ve created a family-like atmosphere, fostering relationships that go beyond transactions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d start with a calming tea ceremony at the Village Tea Hut, followed by a relaxing day at Ispa, a Korean spa with various saunas, fresh Korean food, and soothing treatments.

Then, we’d explore local farmers’ markets, like Riviera Village on Sundays or Huntington Beach on Tuesdays, and hike at Top of the World in Laguna for breathtaking ocean and mountain views.

We’d spend a day surfing at San Onofre, then unwind with a sound bath meditation.

Evenings would be for dining at my favorite Cuzcos Authentic Peruvian Cuisine, and we’d cap off the nights at my friend’s speakeasy bar in Buena Park called Opsek Post 354.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe much of my success to the incredible support system around me. My friend Chandra has been my steadfast mentor and supporter, always offering a fresh perspective and brainstorming alongside me. My family, though initially unsure of my career path, has supported me in their own way. My team is invaluable. Lastly, my customers and community sharing stories of how my work has positively impacted their lives keeps me going. Then there’s my mastermind and women’s groups have kept me surrounded by like-minded individuals who inspire and motivate me.
Several books have also been instrumental, including:

-School of Greatness – Lewis Howes: This book gives out many examples of success stories + it’s motivating to remind myself to keep going

-Rich Bitch by Nicole Lapin: I’m still reading this book, but it’s making me have a better relationship with money. Plus I like the title.

-The Power of One More – Ed Mylett: This book pushes me to do just one more, one more pushup, one more sale

-The Big Leap – Gay Hendrick: This book gave me the courage to leave my steady corporate job of 14 years and pursue Y!B

-Outwitting the Devil – Napoleon Hill: This taught me to break away from limiting old beliefs that didn’t serve me

-The Four Agreements – Don Miguel: Every time I go back to this book, it gives me a different perspective
