We had the good fortune of connecting with Victor M Frausto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victor M, why did you pursue a creative career?
All my life I’ve always been interested in Art and being creative. but never really had an opportunity to pursue it. I grew up in Highland Park, during the 90’s and early 2000’s it was not the safest neighborhood. So there was not many art programs around. So I grew up thinking that there is no such thing as artistic or creative careers for people like me.

In that state of mind it put me in some form of depression, but I found ways to deal with it. for example reenacting movies, drawing stories, telling stories to my friends. Just make people happy. As I finish Highschool I couldn’t afford to continue school, So I got regular jobs in retail, costumer service, and office jobs. but I felt like I had no purpose in life, and many of my coworkers felt that way too. So I would try to entertain my coworkers so we won’t be too depress. They would tell me I should pursue in something in entertainment.

And I thought about it. I saved up money and did research and found an Acting School called Theatre of Arts. Then All of a sudden the world went on lockdown. many people would see that as a sign to not pursue, I saw it as a challenge to prove to my self that even though the world stop I shouldn’t. So I enroll to Theatre of Arts, they have a great program there, and the instructors are very loving and supportive as long as you putt in the work. It is a very Hard an challenging career there are moments where I would feel discourage, but my little sister Yecenia told me “you have a gift to make people Happy” and that gave me purpose to pursue a career that would help people feel better and see beauty in life, even in the darkest moments. I am an Artist and the artist’s job is not to succumb to despair but to find an antidote for the emptiness of existence. I believe that is a quote from Woody Allen.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Right now I am in the begging of my professional acting career. but its been hard, I believe it would get even harder the more I would pursue it. and what I learn is you got to keep going believe in my self be confident in my work. put in the work, because it shows. but proud moment is when I got the opportunity to perform at The World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywood, where the legendary comedians perform. I’ve been doing stand-up for one year and so far I’ve performed 5 times at the comedy store. I love making people laugh and I would love to keep doing that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many spots to name, but if I had to choose my favorite spots it would be my favorite taco truck between Highland Park and Eagle Rock it is called “Charlie’s tacos” amazing California burritos, another spot to just hang out would be Manhattan beach it is a beautiful and chill spot. and if they want to dance I would take them to this nightclub called “La Granada” its located in Alhambra, great people great salsa, bachata dancing. and to eat at one of my favorite Mexican restaurant would be “Tamales Liliana’s Restaurant” in East LA. then we will hang out at “The Barcade” in Highland Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to first credit my family, they are always supportive. Second I would love to mention Theatre of Art in Hollywood. it is a great conservatory school. They teach from acting, motion capture, movement, sketch comedy, voice, Shakespeare, stand-up comedy. It is an intense 2 year program. but it is worth it. all of the instructors are loving and supportive as long as you put in the work. This school help me start my career and so far its been a great start. I would love to name every one but it would a long list. So I am going to Shout out to the Director of the school David Conolly. He is doing a great job at Theatre of Arts and he cares for the well being of every one in that school. Thank you David for helping me find a new purpose. love you brother
