Meet VICTORIA UDEH

We had the good fortune of connecting with VICTORIA UDEH and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi VICTORIA, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am the youngest in a family of award-winning athletes who lived, breathed, and would die for their respective sport. (And that’s not to say there weren’t any creatives among them, I mean I even had a sibling who spent their 20’s touring with a band.) But with no physical prowess, I found my calling in the arts, mostly singing in school choirs or acting in school plays. I still believe my best work was my rendition of “Livin’ On A Prayer” to close out my seventh grade talent show. It wasn’t until I was in high school that I learned that singing and acting could come together in harmony in the form of musical theater. I was a theater kid through and through. Show choir filled the gaps between plays and musicals during the school year. Although the creative arts and sport present as polar opposites, as every high school film outside of “High School Musical” would have you believe, they share two important qualities: competition and drive. It’s all about being the best and what it takes to be the best. This has always been the foundation of who I am and what I do. Watching my siblings succeed time and time again in their respective sports fueled me to be my best artistic self when I was younger and it continues to fuel me as an adult today. I am always looking for ways to evolve as an artist and reach deeper creative depths than my last time on stage/camera/film. My sister always says that every new day is an opportunity to be better than who you were yesterday and that’s the way I choose to live.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an actress in Los Angeles and that in itself feels like a win. I took a leap in 2022 and moved halfway across the country alone to follow my lifelong dream of being an actress. When I look back on this time in my life, I want it to be known that I tried. No regrets. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do and three years later, I’m living my best life. I’ve been in commercials for Google and worked with Kpop stars. I’ve been flown across the country for commercials and films. Your girl can say she was “flewed out!” Something that really kept me going was having a community and it only took me three years to build one! I have people who I can lean on when I’m in need of help and support. People I can talk to when I need to vent my frustrations. People I can eat and laugh and cry with. I am so proud of the community I had in Minnesota and now I have one in LA. If you learn anything from me, build a community of people you can trust! It’ll save you from so many problems and heartaches, or help you heal from them. One thing about me, I am THE presence. I have an essence that cannot be replicated because I am me 100% of the time. When you meet me, you’ll never forget me, for good or for bad. I am me, and I am wholly and completely me. Victoria Udeh is the brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my besties are in town, we are going to eat, drink, and dance in that order. Starting in the valley, we’re hitting up Vui Ve for some incredible Vietnamese food. BlaqHaus is perfect for brunch and mimosas. India’s Tandoori is top tier. As a true Nigerian girl, we have to make a stop at Veronica’s Kitchen in Inglewood. If we want something a little scenic, we’re heading downtown to Cara Cara. And of course, we must have tacos from Ponchos Taqueria. When it’s time for a night out, WeHo is the way to go. Roscoe’s, The Abbey, Mickey’s, Beaches, Mother Lode, etc. Walk the strip and have the time of your life. I’m a big karaoke fan so Good Nite in NoHo and Boardwalk 11 near Culver City are my favorites. On a chill day, we’d hike up to the Hollywood sign for the vibes or spend the day people watching at Venice Beach. Just know that with me, a time will be had.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my acting studio, The Studio LA, for surrounding me with a teacher and other actors and actresses who truly believe in me as an artist. I don’t know where I would be without them. I’ve been actively pursuing a career in Hollywood for about two years and I’ve been doing things that I never would have dreamed of as a kid, things I wouldn’t believe would be if not for my creative home. They see me for who I am and who I’m meant to be in a way that others haven’t before. They’re constantly inspiring me with their own successes and have only ever been supportive of my success. They’re always there to hold me up through the ebb and flow of Hollywood. I feel seen, protected, safe, and loved when I’m in The Studio. It’s something I hope all creatives get to experience in their careers.
