We had the good fortune of connecting with Virginia Boudreaux and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Virginia, how do you think about risk?
Starting my own business was a huge rush for my career and life. After losing my job in December 2020 with an industrial engineering degree, I wasn’t sure which direction to go with my life. Should I continue to work for companies that didn’t fulfill my life? Or should I follow my dreams and open my own boutique? A dream that I had since I was 13…My father was the influencer who advised me take a risk and to go all in and follow my dreams. In the beginning, I was very hesitant because I had worked so hard for my degree, but I soon realized that my degree has prepared me to follow my dreams. As my dad would say, you gotta risk it to get the biscuit. In the end, this has been the best decision I’ve ever made because I now control my own happiness rather than having it in someone else’s hands.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I graduated from LSU with an Industrial Engineering degree. Initially I went to college for business financing in hopes of opening my own business. But, life happens and I ended up with engineering. Along the way, I found classes that I excelled in which differed my goal of opening my own business. I then felt that I need to have a “real” career. And work a 9-5 job behind a desk. I knew I could have this goal easily if I put my mind to getting my degree in engineering. It was not an easy task to accomplish, but I did excel in these classes. I was one of the best feelings in the world to not only be the first in my family to graduate college, but to graduate from LSU with an engineering degree was huge for my family. After 2 years of working the corporate ladder, I was laid off in the oil field. I felt like a huge failure. The entire time this was happening I had my families support and advice to finally follow my real dreams. And I did. I took the leap. I jumped. Since then, we have been steadily building a brand that is nearest and dearest to my heart. Louise Lane. A brand that is three generations. A goal that I couldn’t accomplish without family. The biggest lesson I learned in this whole journey, is to always stay true to yourself and to follow my heart!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to my favorite food spots on a Saturday. Start out with breakfast at the Coffee Depot in Scott, LA. Then go spend some time at the Horse Farm off Johnson Street. Enjoy local crafts, foods, and drinks. Then hit up La Papa Loca for lunch, where they have the best tacos in town. Followed by dinner at Cafe Josephine where the have the best oysters in town. And if we feeling really adventurous we will go downtown to the Grouse Room and see what local bands are playing!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My hubs, family and friends. If it wasn’t for you guys, I would have never followed my dreams!
