We had the good fortune of connecting with Visnja Radosavljevic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Visnja, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking has been a central theme in my life. Every significant achievement I’ve reached involved stepping outside my comfort zone.

Though these choices were daunting at first, they ultimately led to valuable experiences and growth. I’ve learned that taking risks often opens doors to opportunities I wouldn’t have encountered otherwise. Embracing risk has taught me resilience and adaptability, shaping not just my career but my perspective on life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is deeply rooted in the world of makeup and special effects, where I have the privilege of blending creativity, technical skill, and storytelling. What sets me apart is my dedication to pushing boundaries and constantly evolving, whether it’s experimenting with new techniques or collaborating with passionate teams that bring unique visions to life.

One of the projects I’m most proud of is the film Mudbrick, which is premiering on AppleTV and Prime Video on December 13th. The cast and crew were incredible, a small but tightly-knit family that poured their hearts into this film. I truly believe it will resonate with a wide audience. I’m also very proud of ZZZ, a film directed by Filipe Vargas that we shot in February 2023 in Los Angeles. The energy of that team reignited my passion for this city and made me realize how much I want to return.

As for how I got to where I am today, it definitely wasn’t easy. I’ve faced numerous challenges along the way, but I’ve always embraced them. I’m someone who thrives on challenges, even though they often come with fear. However, the feeling of freedom that comes after breaking through those boundaries is indescribable. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that I no longer chase goals for the sake of reaching them. I’ve realized that the journey itself is what truly brings me happiness. I now focus on enjoying every step of the process, rather than fixating on the destination.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Having moved to Los Angeles just two months ago, I love showing visitors the best of the city. We usually start with a visit to The Grove, soaking in the energy of one of LA’s most iconic spots. Afterward, we head out for a hike to explore the stunning nature and bask in the Californian sun. There’s something truly liberating about it—the perfect way to embrace the city’s mix of urban life and natural beauty.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I hear a question like this, it’s as if a rollercoaster of people flashes through my mind, because everyone has played a role in my journey. First and foremost, my mother, my family, and my friends have been my greatest support system. They’ve been there through thick and thin, offering love and encouragement at every step.

As for inspiration, one person who truly stands out is Richard Redlefsen. Not only did he offer me invaluable advice, but he also recommended some key books that shaped my path as a makeup and special effects artist.

Lastly, Miroslav Lakobrija, my closest special effects friend from Serbia, deserves a huge shoutout. Without him, I honestly don’t know how I would have dreamed as big as I do now. His friendship, expertise, and passion have made all the difference in helping me push boundaries in my craft.
