We had the good fortune of connecting with Vivian Acevedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vivian, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think of risk as an opportunity to be one step closer to achieving your dreams. I feel the fear of risk has held many back from achieving their full potential and it has held me back in the past as well.

I used to always play the safe route and had a previous career that was financially stable and gave me a sense of security. However, I was miserable and was under bad management. I knew I needed to make a change but was afraid.

I had to shift my mindset and embrace risk instead of avoiding it. Embracing risk allowed me to change my career path and open up my own business, Lux House of Beauty Salon & Spa.

Embracing a healthy dose of risk will allow you to not only grow as a person but also open doors to many opportunities to have the life you desire.

What should our readers know about your business?
When leaving my corporate job to pursue opening my own business, I knew I wanted to create a peaceful space for our guests to escape their busy lives and have sometime for themselves. I also have a passion for skin care so providing a result-driven skin clinic with a relaxing atmosphere was my ultimate goal.

Lux House of Beauty is a Salon & Spa is owned by myself and my sister. We are a latina owned salon who strive to create a welcoming and positive experience for all our clients and guests. I partnered with my sister who is a hair stylist and had the same vision that I did.

It was definitely not easy, we come from humble beginnings and we had to figure out a lot of our own. What has made us successful is our dedication to our clients. We truly put their comfort first and our 5 star yelp and google reviews prove that. We constantly get compliments about the energy of the salon as being welcoming and homey.

At Lux House of Beauty, our skilled team is committed to delivering an exceptional experience by enhancing beauty, boosting confidence, and nurturing well-being. We believe that self-care is an act of self-love, and we are dedicated to providing an oasis of relaxation, transformation, and rejuvenation for our clients. We strive to go beyond beauty, leaving a positive impact on the lives we touch, one appointment at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is such a big beautiful city with so many amazing places it is hard to pin down all my favorite places. For food my favorite restaurant is Javier’s . In terms of places, I would take them to venice beach, dodgers stadium, the moca museum, and the arts district . For a night out, my favorite spot is short stop in Echo Park near the dodgers stadium.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been fortunate enough to have a variety of inspiration and motivation by some amazing leaders.

In terms of personal growth, I have a variety of books to help me have a positive growth mindset:

1. Tony Robbins – Awaken the giant within.
2. Paulo Coelho- The Alchemist
3. don Miguel Ruiz- The Four Agreements
4. thich nhat hanh- The Art Of Living

For business, I have worked with a few consultants such as Bosses in Beauty who have guided and inspired me to achieve my goals effectively at Lux House of Beauty.
