Meet Wendy Moore | Realtor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendy Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wendy, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I spent my formative years in New York City. During those days, Central Park felt like an extension of our own backyard. I relished skateboarding along the smooth sidewalks in front of the iconic Guggenheim Museum, walked to school as part of my daily routine, took voice lessons on the renowned Broadway, and honed my dancing skills under the guidance of the city’s finest instructors. My aspiration was to become a Broadway sensation, leading me to graduate from The Dalton School and enroll at Boston University to pursue a theater degree. I suppose I’ve always been someone unafraid of transformation.
However, midway through my college journey, I decided to alter my course and shifted my major to sociology. Subsequently, I ventured into graduate school, where I obtained a Master of Science in Public Relations. For the next 15 years, I immersed myself in the world of public relations, with a notable highlight being my collaboration with Frank Perdue of Perdue Farms, who served as an invaluable mentor in the realm of business.
My life then took a significant turn as I embraced motherhood and transitioned into the real estate sector. For eight years, I dedicated myself to selling real estate in Short Hills, NJ, a move that allowed me to strike the elusive work-life balance many aspire to achieve while raising a young family.
Recognizing my passion for movement, stemming from my dance background, I pursued a degree in exercise physiology. For the subsequent two decades, I thrived as a personal trainer and Pilates instructor, finding immense fulfillment in every moment of it. Alongside this, I ventured into entrepreneurship by launching Aspen Yoga Mats, a company specializing in crafting custom embroidered mats for studios and luxury resorts worldwide.
My journey and family led me to Los Angeles nine years ago, prompting another pivot in my career. I returned to the world of real estate, where I currently reside.
Throughout my life, I’ve worn various hats—an unconventional path for my generation. However, I’ve always been unafraid to venture in new directions. I firmly believe that every experience along this diverse path has contributed to my present-day business acumen and outlook on life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In my current career as a Realtor in Los Angeles, I embarked on a journey to build my business from the ground up. When I first arrived in the city, I only had my family and my college roommate as familiar faces. It was my roommate who encouraged me to obtain my real estate license and guided me in affiliating with my initial brokerage. My business development took shape through conventional methods such as hosting open houses, sending out mailings, knocking on doors, and finding creative ways to engage with as many people as possible. This proved to be quite a challenge in the sprawling metropolis of LA. Nevertheless, after nine years of dedicated effort, I am proud to have cultivated a thriving business that I hope to continue nurturing and expanding. Joining the Compass family has undeniably played a pivotal role in my journey to success. The company’s access to top-notch coaching and daily support has allowed me to function as a solo agent while still benefiting from the camaraderie and resources of a larger team.
Regarding my brand, my core strengths lie in my unwavering focus on my clients and their unique needs. I pride myself on honesty and authenticity, and I prefer working with individuals who appreciate these qualities and share a sense of humor. I have a genuine fondness for first-time homebuyers and also relish the opportunity to assist boomers like myself who find themselves at the opposite end of the homeownership spectrum. Working with sellers allows me to leverage my well-honed marketing skills to their fullest potential.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Santa Monica, so we would start at the beach and take in the Santa Monica Pier lights at night. A drive up the PCH to Malibu for unsurpassed vistas and lunch at Nobu with the ocean beneath us as we dine. I do a lot of work in Hollywood and a trip to the iconic Hollywood Sign and Lake Hollywood would top my list. Dinner at Jon & Vinny’s is always a treat on Fairfax, Mother Wolf’s pre theater at the Pantages or just a walk checking out the sidewalk stars is always a kick. If there was a football or basketball game at USC we would definitely hit those up maybe stopping in for dinner at one of the restaurants in Koreatown for BBQ.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my journey, I’ve been fortunate to have had numerous mentors and teachers who have played pivotal roles in shaping my path. I previously mentioned the remarkable Frank Perdue, a true luminary in the realms of business and marketing. However, I must emphasize the unwavering support and encouragement I’ve received from my husband, Peter Moore, throughout our 45-year marriage. He has consistently stood by my side, allowing me the freedom to make career shifts whenever I felt compelled to do so, with few questions asked.
In my present endeavors, I am fortunate to collaborate with a multitude of exceptional real estate agents across the country, all thanks to the nurturing culture fostered by Compass among its agents. One individual who has left an indelible mark on my current journey is Andrew Jevin. He has not only encouraged me but also imparted invaluable lessons on embracing authenticity on social media as a means to drive business growth. His mentorship has not only positively impacted my business but has also introduced me to a community of agents across the nation who have become genuine friends.
Reflecting on my roots, I must acknowledge the incredible women who have served as role models in my life. My grandmother, who worked in the New York garment industry until the age of 85, and my mother, who, in her 90s, continues to have a remarkable career in environmental issues and even founded a successful nonprofit organization in New York, where she still holds the position of president, have both been formidable examples of strength, dedication, and success.
