Meet Wenti Wu | Film Director & Editor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wenti Wu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Film is media but what and how I am able to inspire people with my stories is what I am aiming for. The contradiction in humanity, in a connection, or in a relationship always triggers something surprising. It is like the moment when the warm currents meet the cold current in the ocean, there must be some seaweed gathering, fish coming, birth and death encountering. It is where life comes from and death goes.
It is the stories I would like to connect with and inspire people.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Temples. Beautiful Temples.
There are a lot of beautiful temples in this city and only a few people talk about them. Guan Di Temple and Tien Hau Temple are located in Chinatown. Koyasan Buddhist Temple in Little Tokyo. Wat Khmer Buddist Temple on Beverly Blvd. To the North, Wat Thai of Los Angeles is in Van Nuys. To the South, Senshin Buddhist Temple in South LA. We hang out around different temples and wish our friends some luck.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my MAMA and PAPA in Taiwan.
They are always trying to find out who we are and what we can do for our people. They don’t talk a lot about what kind of people they want to be but do it, showing it through their actions. They see everything of me in their eyes but never said anything until that crucial moment comes- “Is this what you really want to do?” I am always inspired by these simple questions by them.
They don’t direct my sisters and me but just watch us from a distance. And, we learn from their actions, their virtue, their goodness, and their badness.
