We had the good fortune of connecting with Wyatt Woodley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wyatt, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
For the longest I tried to find a ‘happy medium’ between work and my social life, but the more I focused on my work the more results I saw. For the last 6 months I’ve only been in the studio or producing and mixing from home and have not only seen an increase in quality, but in frequency of work being given to me. The music I make is what makes me happy and I am blessed to be in a position to only do that every day.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Every song I make I see through from blank canvas to finished track. I produce, write, mix and master everything I do with an emphasis on pushing sonic boundaries. One of my biggest assets as a music artist is the ability to tap into different sounds while maintaining my identity and using the overall sound to help communicate my message. Some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that there’s room for everyone in todays landscape. You just have to put your head down and do the work. Nobody will do it for you.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to thank studio 403 in Korea town (illNicky, Billion Coast, and Whatupobvi). I went in to play my album in its infancy for Billion Coast, one of my biggest inspirations as an engineer and producer in December and two months later I got a call that he wanted to bring me in on the studio. Since then, he’s really taken me under his wing and not only taught me so much in such a short period of time but has also put me in position for opportunities I’ve dreamed of. My best friend Vixxion opened up “THE LAST GOOD FILM LAB” this year as well with his business partners JMP and Mike Koziel. Watching him continue to prosper has been nothing but fuel to my entreprenurial fire.
