We had the good fortune of connecting with Ying Li and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ying, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I’ve been working in VFX and post production industry as a Producer for many years before I had my first child. My drive was to be part of top of the range productions in TV and film. Everything changed in 2016 when Kun was born and I had a chance to really slow down and think about my mental health.
Was I ever going to be a the person and mother I wanted to be if I dedicated my time to tight rules and heavy deadlines? Around the same time, I started considering other factors in my life such as travelling and working at the same time, was that even possible? Dedicating time to other key elements of life such as therapies, quality time with family, travels and personal dreams, was a must.
What should our readers know about your business?
I work at the Digital Agency that my partner founded in 2011. We now co-Direct the team and our clients are mostly from the Entertainment and Education Industry based across US , South America and Europe.
We are also working towards becoming a B Certified company, hopefully in the next few years. As a family run agency we are extremely interested in exploring the ideas of design and products that our team might have.
Last year, we created our first team project called Ronda. Ronda is a platform for young children that aims to bring content about cultural diversity. We’ve teamed up with a psychologist and with a team of anti bullying researchers and came up with the hypothesis that bringing quality content about diversity at early stage of these kids, will then prevent anti-bullying behaviour in the future.
Ronda is still being tested as the first prototype was created by end of of 2021.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I now live in the city where I grew up, the stunning Buenos Aires. I’m quite impressed with the international culinary experiences that I’m encountering, even after living 8 years in London.
Every week, there’s a new spot to try that becomes my new favourite one. Even during Covid (we had one of the most tough lockdowns in the world) we could enjoy really amazing take aways from these restaurants or pop ups that struggled so much to subsist.
I would say that experimental cuisine and wine are the best things that you can find in this city. The gastronomic tour is now quite concentrated in the hood of Chacarita and if you like wine and food you can’t miss these spots: Naranjo Bar, Condarco, Picaron and Anchoita cava.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mentor throughout these years has been my life and business partner, Emi. He pushed hard on me when I decided to pursue my professional life as self employed. I was super scared at first about living in such an expensive city as London and working together with my partner. Plus we just had Kun, our first baby.
After many years of high and lows, we managed to create a beautiful team of talented professionals who are working with us, from different parts of the world, in our Digital Agency. We also managed to travel, find time for our physical therapies and find time to stay with our little ones.
