We had the good fortune of connecting with Yonatan Baevsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yonatan, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
As an international actor based in the US, maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial for me. The demanding nature of the entertainment industry can often consume every aspect of my life, but I understand the importance of taking time for myself outside of work. Balancing auditions, rehearsals, and performances with personal time allows me to recharge, stay grounded, and maintain my mental and physical well-being. It not only enhances my performance on stage or screen but also allows me to fully enjoy the success and fulfillment that comes with pursuing my passion. Prioritizing work-life balance is not only essential for my own happiness and health but also for long-term success in my career. as a student in a professional acting program I had to learn how to balance, which was a big challenge at first as I just moved to the US alone. it was an emotional challenge and physical but this experience helped me to grow as a human and as an actor and I appreciate it and now I”m ready to go out to the real world!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an international actor who speaks Hebrew, Russian, and English, I believe that my unique language abilities set me apart from others in the industry. I am most proud of my ability to connect with audiences from different cultural backgrounds and bring a diverse range of characters to life on screen and on stage. I’m super excited to see what I can offer to the industry as an actor with diverse language abilities.
Getting to where I am today professionally has not been easy. I faced many challenges when I moved to LA, especially as a non-native English speaker. I had to work twice as hard to prove myself and overcome the language barrier. However, through persistence, dedication, and continuous training, I have been able to find my place here and to embrace the uniqueness I bring to the industry.
One of the key lessons I have learned along the way is the importance of perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity. I have learned to embrace rejection as a part of the industry and use it as fuel to push myself further and improve my craft. I work on improving and overcoming my challenges everyday and I try to do it in a way that lets me enjoy the process, and for me is the key. I don’t believe you can’t improve and be successful if you don’t enjoy the road.
I want the world to know that I am a passionate and versatile actor who is committed to telling impactful stories that resonate with audiences worldwide. I want to be an Actor because I love people and I love life, and I want to explore as many cultures and stories as I can, and I don’t think there is a better way to do it than acting. My journey as an international actor is just beginning, and I am excited to continue growing and evolving in this dynamic industry.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question! if there is something I love is to plan trips. there is so much to do in La and around LA and I would love to show them a little bit from every place. I love exploring the city with my belly, I love food and so are my friends. first of all I’ll start with showing them the bucket list places like The Walk of Fame and the Hollywood sign, personally it’s not a place I love but it’s nice for tourists. after we checked out the touristic spots like Venice beach, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills I’ll take them to my favorite restaurants in Silver lake, Little Tokyo, Malibu and West Hollywood. in all those neighborhoods there are many good places to have a good food in different price ranges. personally I LOVE a good night out and some networking in a nice bar, for this kind of evening I’ll take my friend to Bar Lis, The Bungalow, the bars in Venice beach and some nice rooftop in DTLA for beautiful views. and no trip to LA is completed without visiting Disneyland and Universal Studios! for me that’s the most important place to take my friends to.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
there are so many people I would love to dedicate my shoutout to! but I’ll start with the most important people in my life who supported me all along, my family. I can’t describe how big my love and appreciation is to them. they never doubted me or the career path I chose, I got their full support and love. there is no way I could have done it without them. more specifically I would love to thank my mom who taught me self love and to big dream, my father who without him I could not be here today and my step sister who is always here to support me and help me in every aspect of my life even though we are 7,604 mi away. being far away from your family while pursuing your dream can be hard at times, but they do everything they can to be there for me and I love them for it. beside my family I would love to thank my friends from back home and the friends I met here, I couldn’t be more grateful to be surrounded by such loving and positive people. and for last but not least I would love to thank my acting teachers who helped me to evolve as an actor and taught me so much.
