Meet Z-mainey Z-dazzle | Rapper/Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Z-mainey Z-dazzle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Z-mainey, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think you have to feel or really know you are taking a risk.
Me choosing to be absolutely different yet artistic but entertaining was a big risk where I was.
I was always different from the jump and comfortable with that so that was the easy part. Hard it might have been and it did take time to embrace my weirdness and uniqueness I feel it paid off, worked out. I took a huge risk writing and recovering an album that really hasn’t been done in the fashion many others especially in this climate have been done. That was is still a challenge, but once I finished it I felt very good about it. It was very different from anything I’ve done in my life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart in my mind and maybe in others for the most part is my voice, my style and way I deliver my vocals. It’s very much art to me like my drawings and paintings and they pretty much go together. Creative witty animated brutally honest humorous type lyrics some times party raps. I think the challenges were that not everyone was so into what I was sayin, it’s still an acquired taste. But the challenges were me still figuring out who I was what I felt comfortable doing and how to execute the style and empress people by entertaining them. What I want is everyone to know is I am very hip hop and not anti other musics of any sort. But please recognize me as an MC and entertainer and part time activist, but we’ll touch on that later. To get here wasn’t easy and the struggle is still a beautiful one.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
You know, there are way too many places here to go. But we would go to Fillmore, the Height, North Beach to the Mission, to Valencia over towards 3rd street. Down town and beyond cause there is great food everywhere and always something to do.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give it up to old friends from high school and to friends who joined me in forming my first rap group, 99th-Denention. They made me rap better just by being in a group. As I became a soloist and moved forward collaborating with other people with like minded passions and dreams and making solo music, I was signed to a independent lable. Hiero Imperium with Hieroglyphics crew. That really pushed me and my ambitious to really want to do it. I had no idea what I was gonna do then in the 90’s. So shout out to them and other friends and family around me who saw something in me and felt I needed to be doing this forreal.
