We had the good fortune of connecting with Zeal Levin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zeal, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
First and foremost comes family, my close friends and my community. I find true happiness seeing my loved ones succeed in their endeavors and through being present with my people when they need support or collaboration.

I’ve been truly grateful for so many opportunities in my life to express myself and spread joy through music. Playing solo, with my band Triple Bueno, or with other artists has been my happy place for a long time!

I played some of the greatest shows of my career so far with Kevin Sousa Band, including the BeachLife Festival, Fiesta Hermosa and many more unforgettable shows.

I am currently working at Hermosa Music Company and Studio 637 recording a Zeal Levin record and a full band record with Triple Bueno.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At the end of the day, the people are more important than the music. I cherish my connections with others and value the friendships and brotherhoods I have been able to form in order to live my dream of playing music professionally. I never would have been able to make it happen without the love and support of so many people including my family, friends and fans!

My music is a reflection of that love and connection with others and also my deep love for our earth. The ocean, surfing, hiking, and being in nature has always inspired me to make music. I love to play feel good music for people to enjoy and be themselves.

I was blessed to have the help of many musicians and artists when I moved to LA in 2015. When I met Kevin Sousa in 2016 and we started working together shortly after, I was able to meet an incredible community of musicians in the South Bay of Los Angeles. Too many amazing musicians to list: Steve Aguilar, Nik Hughes, Aragorn Wiederhold, V Torres, Kira Lingman, Jeremey Buck and the Bang, Tatiana Erse, Pedro Reis, Barclay Roach, Barley, The Lucky Ones…. and that is just a few!!

I was able to support other artists by collaborating on live shows, working together on recordings, doing technical production work, running sound for other bands and engineering recording sessions. I feel like having all these amazing inspiring friends is one of my superpowers for sure! It helps inspire growth, change and good vibes!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Obviously I love live music so first we would definitely be hitting up some live music venues in Los Angeles! Shoutout to Saint Rocke, the Lighthouse Cafe, the Hotel Cafe, the Mint, Project Barley, and all the other awesome venues all over the city!

I’d take them surfing and explore a hike in Malibu or PV, wherever the wind might take us! I prefer to be in the moment as much as possible and I don’t tend to over plan that type of stuff.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this article to every person before me who has dared to follow a dream.
