Meet Zora Chung | Cofounder and CFO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zora Chung and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zora, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing most people don’t realize about the EV battery industry? Testing battery health is surprisingly difficult—and it shouldn’t be.
Most people assume there’s a quick and reliable way to assess an EV battery’s condition, like checking a car’s gas gauge. But in reality, the industry standard take hours, require specialized expertise, and often involve expensive, bulky equipment. Many assume that an EV’s Battery Management System (BMS) provides an accurate, real-time assessment of battery health. But in reality, the BMS only tracks voltage, temperature, and charging cycles—it doesn’t actually measure a battery’s true capacity or state of health. At best, their estimations can be off by 10-15%, but we’ve heard anecdotes from our customers where it’s more than 50% off! This creates major challenges for automakers, mechanics, and fleet operators trying to diagnose, repair, or resell EVs efficiently.
At ReJoule, we’re changing that. Our fast and easy-to-use diagnostics platform provides a clear picture of battery health in under 10 minutes—helping automakers reduce repair bottlenecks, optimize warranty costs, and make informed decisions about battery reuse and recycling.
As EV adoption grows, we need smarter, more accessible solutions to ensure batteries are used to their full potential. Because when we maximize battery value, we’re not just improving efficiency—we’re making EVs more affordable, reducing waste, and accelerating the transition to a more sustainable future.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At ReJoule, we help automakers maximize the value of their electric vehicle (EV) batteries with our fast and easy-to-use diagnostics platform. In under 10 minutes, automakers can assess battery health—solving critical challenges like repair bottlenecks, managing warranty costs, and accurately estimating residual value for used EVs. Traditional battery testing is slow, complex, and requires specialized expertise—but with ReJoule, anyone can be trained to be a battery technician. Our customers today are using our solution at warehouses where they collect batteries that have come out of vehicles from repairs or warranty replacements. Our diagnostics help them quickly determine if the battery can go back into a car, is good enough to be used in what’s known as a second-life application, or should ultimately be recycled. We are starting to move upstream in the battery value chain and test batteries in-vehicle thorough the charging port. Hopefully soon you’ll start to see ReJoule’s diagnostics at your local dealership!
Getting here wasn’t easy. We’re tackling a niche but high-impact problem that has the potential to transform how automakers manage their battery value chain. Coming from a finance background, I was no stranger to presenting—but pitching a groundbreaking solution? That’s a whole different game. It’s not about just sharing facts and figures; it’s about making people feel the problem we’re solving. Battery testing isn’t something most people think about, so convincing others that this is a big problem in itself was a challenge in itself.
But then something incredible happened—our first few customers found us. They reached out because they felt the pain firsthand and could find nothing else on the market that would meet their needs. As we listened to them, a pattern emerged: the same frustrations, the same bottlenecks, the same need for a better way forward. That’s when we realized—the best way to tell our story wasn’t through our words, but theirs. By using the language of our customers and sharing their real-world challenges, our message became so much more powerful and relatable.
So here we are today, working with automakers to reshape the future of EV battery management. If you’re curious to learn more about how we’re making battery testing smarter and more accessible, check out our website!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d make sure they got the full LA experience—beaches, amazing food, iconic sights, and even an amusement park or two. Some personal favorites below, but I would strategically plan it to dodge LA traffic as much as possible—because I’m a good friend like that. Perhaps I’ll take them around in a Waymo so they can experience a self-driving car, too.
Beach Vibes – Morning or sunset beach walk. Options are the classic Santa Monica to Venice stroll (hello, street performers and Muscle Beach!) or the Redondo to Manhattan Beach for a cozier vibe.
Food (I could go on forever but here’s a short list)
Tacos at Sonoritas in Sawtelle are always good. Casablanca in Venice – we would absolutely get their freshly made tortillas and order from their tequila cart. Nothing screams “Welcome to LA” like great Mexican food, right?
Sawtelle is ramen heaven, so we’ll hit up Daikokuya or Tsujita (but we’d go early or during weekdays to avoid the line!).
Rooftop dinner & drinks at Terra in Century City for a gorgeous view. Plenty of shopping to work off the food afterwards!
Amusement Parks: Depending on personal preferences there are an abundance of options from Disneyland, Universal Studios, or Six Flags. There’s also the smaller Knott’s Berry Farm.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Entrepreneurship is a wild ride—the highs are exhilarating, but the lows can feel like free-falling. It’s not for the faint of heart, and no one does it alone. I’ve learned that having a strong support network is not just helpful—it’s essential.
My family, close friends, and especially my husband—Even when they can’t remove the obstacles in my path, they remind me that I don’t have to face them alone. Whether it’s a moment of joy, a word of encouragement, or simply their presence, they keep me grounded and resilient.
Government agencies and accelerators—The grants, resources, and connections they provide have been game-changers for us. More importantly, the dedicated people behind these organizations move mountains, making the impossible possible. Their belief in innovation and their willingness to champion early-stage companies like ours is something I’ll always be grateful for.
Mentors and advisors—Whether they’re formal or just a one-time conversation, their wisdom, tough questions, and honest feedback have been invaluable. Sometimes, you just need someone to tell you if you’re onto something—or if you’re completely off track!
And of course, my team—the ReJouligans. They are the definition of scrappy innovation, tackling problems that have never been solved before. With few experts to turn to, they forge new paths every day, proving that bold ideas and relentless determination can change the world. Their passion fuels mine, and I never take that for granted.
To anyone on this journey—build your support system, lean on them, and never forget to lift others up along the way. Because while entrepreneurship can be hard, with the right people around you, it’s also incredibly rewarding.
